Why choose Wokingham for your road trip

Wokingham — a city worth exploring

Wokingham's half-timbered Town Hall, built in 1860 and still standing at the heart of the Market Place, sets the tone for a Berkshire town that blends heritage with green open spaces. Stroll through the restored Peach Place quarter for independent shops and cafés, then head to California Country Park for lakeside walks and a miniature railway that families love. The Wokingham Theatre, one of the oldest amateur theatres in the country, stages productions year-round in its intimate Rose Street venue. Just 13 km west you reach Reading, with its abbey ruins and Oracle shopping centre, while Windsor Castle sits 18 km to the east — an easy morning drive in a campervan. The surrounding countryside is gentle and well-connected: the A329 and A321 keep you moving without tight lanes, and the M4 corridor is only minutes away, opening up the Thames Valley and beyond. Hiring a motorhome through Yescapa means you can collect your vehicle from a local owner who knows the best overnight spots near Dinton Pastures Country Park or along the Loddon Valley. With peer-to-peer choice, you pick the layout and size that suits your plans, whether that is a compact campervan for a weekend or a fully kitted vehicle for a longer tour of southern England.

Best time to visit

Wokingham comes alive in late June during the annual Wokingham Festival, a weekend of live music, food stalls and family entertainment in the town centre. September brings the Wokingham Beer Festival at the cricket ground — a relaxed way to sample local ales before an autumn road trip. Summer months offer the longest daylight hours for exploring nearby country parks by campervan, while spring and early autumn keep roads quieter and campsite availability wider. Book your motorhome through Yescapa ahead of the summer holidays to lock in the best peer-to-peer rates from local owners in Wokingham and the wider Berkshire area.

Absolutely loved staying in Alfreds campervan. The decor was beautiful. It had everything we needed, a perfect space for two people for time in nature travelling. It was so good having a fridge on the road. He answered any questions I had and the pick up/ drop off was great. Would definitely love to rent it again in the future when we come back to Spain. Communication with Guillaume the owner was excellent. Always available to answer questions and give advice about travel destinations. The campervan was a perfect size for our first experience of this type of holiday. We used sites for our 7 night travel experience which worked well with electric/topping up water etc. Overall a great experience and would use this owner again.
