Berkshire is home to Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, with over 900 years of continuous royal residence. This historic county in southern England stretches from the Thames Valley westward through rolling countryside, offering a rewarding mix of royal heritage, riverside towns, and peaceful rural landscapes. From Reading to Windsor is roughly 40 km, while the western market town of Hungerford sits about 55 km from Slough in the east, giving you a compact but varied touring area. You can explore the elegant Savill Garden in Windsor Great Park, wander the waterside paths at Basildon Park near Pangbourne, or take in the racing heritage at Ascot Racecourse. The Ridgeway National Trail crosses the western edge of the county near Streatley, providing excellent walking opportunities right from your pitch. Berkshire's network of A-roads and motorways makes it easy to navigate by larger vehicles, and the mix of riverside campsites and rural stopovers means you can settle into a different spot each night. With Yescapa, you hire your campervan or motorhome directly from local owners across Berkshire and the surrounding counties, so you benefit from flexible pick-up points and a wide choice of vehicles to suit your group size and budget.
Berkshire is wonderful to visit from late spring through to autumn. June brings Royal Ascot, one of the most famous horse racing events in the world, while the Reading Festival in late August draws music lovers from across the country. Summer months offer the longest days for exploring the Thames Path and Berkshire's country parks, and campsites are well stocked with seasonal pitches. For quieter roads and easier campsite availability, consider a campervan trip in May or September. Booking through Yescapa outside peak summer often means more competitive hire prices from local owners.

Berkshire offers a good selection of campsites spread across the county, from riverside pitches along the Thames to peaceful rural spots near the North Wessex Downs. Many sites provide electric hook-ups, modern shower blocks, and hardstanding pitches suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. Whether you prefer a base close to Windsor's attractions or a quieter retreat in the western countryside, you will find well-maintained facilities throughout the county.
Berkshire is well connected by the M4 motorway, which runs east–west through the county linking London to the West Country, and the M3 passes close to the eastern border. Neither motorway charges tolls. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3.05 tonnes are 60 mph on motorways and 50 mph on single carriageway roads. The A4 offers a scenic alternative to the M4, passing through Maidenhead, Reading, and Newbury. Rest areas and services are plentiful along the M4 corridor, and most are accessible for larger vehicles.
The best experience ever!! Amazing van and amazing people who run it
Muchas gracias. Gary y Michelle
Lovely experience and fantastic van. Clean and worked very well. Leonardo and Eleanora were very friendly and helpful. One small feedback is the fridge did not work very well but otherwise its a great van.
Muy buena experiencia. Ana nos ha tratado muy bien.
Proprietários espetaculares e super atenciosos. Autocaravana estava impecável, super confortável, excelente condução. Painéis solares dão autonomia total. Tudo impecável.
We had an amazing trip! Rafaela and Carina were so kind, and we couldn’t recommend their van enough 🤩🙏🏼 The van had everything we needed for a proper “van life” experience, and you can also stay at campsites whenever you want!
