Why choose Milton Keynes for your road trip

Milton Keynes — a city worth exploring

Milton Keynes was purpose-built as a new town in 1967, designed around a distinctive grid road system that makes it one of the easiest cities in England to navigate by larger vehicles. The city is home to over 22 million trees and an extensive network of redways — shared-use paths stretching more than 300 km across the borough. You can explore the Bletchley Park museum, the famous Second World War codebreaking centre, or take in contemporary art at MK Gallery near Campbell Park. Families enjoy a day out at Gulliver's Land Theme Park, while Willen Lake offers watersports and lakeside walks just minutes from the centre. Oxford lies roughly 80 km to the south-west, and the medieval market town of Northampton is only 28 km to the north, giving you plenty of scope for day trips. The grid roads and generous roundabouts are ideal for motorhome travel, and the surrounding countryside of Buckinghamshire provides quiet lanes and open farmland to discover at your own pace. With Yescapa, you hire a campervan directly from local owners in and around Milton Keynes, which means flexible pick-up points and genuine tips on the best nearby routes. Whether you are planning a weekend escape or a longer tour through the heart of England, a campervan from a fellow traveller is the perfect way to set off on your own terms.

Best time to visit

Milton Keynes is a great base for a campervan trip year-round. The International Festival takes place each July, filling Campbell Park with live music, street food and family entertainment. In autumn, the Stony Stratford Cowper Day heritage festival in nearby Old Stratford celebrates the town's history. Summer is the busiest season, so booking your motorhome through Yescapa early gives you the widest choice of vehicles from local owners at competitive peer-to-peer prices. Spring and early autumn bring comfortable driving weather and quieter campsites across Buckinghamshire, ideal for exploring Milton Keynes and beyond.

What our users say about our campervans and motorhomes in Milton Keynes

We have just returned from our 11 day trip in Jean’s fantastic camper van. Thanks to Jean and Emma’s good English the whole experience was very easy and relaxed. The van had everything we needed for our trip, touring parts of Germany, Austria, and France. As newcomers to camper van life we learned so much and were able to camp without the need to plug in to electric for days on end thanks to the great solar and battery system on the van and the on board water and waste tanks. Many thanks for a great holiday Jean and family! Thanks from Gareth & Samantha!

Thank you for an amazing holiday. We can't recommend this van enough. From the very first communication everything was 100%. The van was clean and had everything we needed for a three week trip. Everything was explained in detail and we were given advice and ideas for places to visit. We will be back again.

Absolutely loved staying in Alfreds campervan. The decor was beautiful. It had everything we needed, a perfect space for two people for time in nature travelling. It was so good having a fridge on the road. He answered any questions I had and the pick up/ drop off was great. Would definitely love to rent it again in the future when we come back to Spain. Thank you!
