Bracknell's iconic weather centre, home to the Met Office from 1961 to 2003, put this Berkshire town firmly on the map for decades. Today, Bracknell offers a rewarding mix of modern redevelopment and green spaces that make it an excellent base for exploring the south of England. The Lexicon shopping centre, opened in 2017, transformed the town centre with over 70 shops and restaurants, while the nearby South Hill Park Arts Centre hosts year-round theatre, music, and exhibitions in a beautifully restored 18th-century mansion. Nature lovers will enjoy Lily Hill Park, a 57-acre Victorian landscaped garden perfect for a morning stroll, and the Look Out Discovery Centre, an interactive science exhibition set within 1,000 hectares of Crown Estate woodland at Swinley Forest. Windsor is just 13 km to the north-east, offering Windsor Castle and the Great Park, while the university city of Reading sits 16 km to the west with its lively waterfront and abbey ruins. The surrounding roads are well suited to larger vehicles, with the M4 and M3 motorways providing smooth connections in every direction. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan or motorhome directly from local owners in the Bracknell area, giving you the flexibility to set off at your own pace. It is a practical and personal way to begin a road trip through Berkshire and beyond, with the added benefit of local tips from your vehicle owner.
Bracknell is a great destination year-round, though late spring and summer bring the longest days for outdoor exploring. The South Hill Park Arts Centre runs its popular open-air theatre season from June to August, ideal for an evening out after a day on the road. Autumn is lovely for walking through Swinley Forest as the colours change. If you hire a campervan through Yescapa, booking ahead for the summer months is worthwhile, as this is the busiest period. Peer-to-peer pricing on Yescapa often means better value compared to traditional hire, especially outside peak weeks. Bracknell's central location makes it a solid base whatever the season.

The Bracknell area offers a good selection of campsites set in the Berkshire countryside, with options ranging from woodland retreats to open farmland pitches. Most sites cater to both campervans and motorhomes, with electric hook-ups, fresh water points, and waste disposal facilities as standard. Several are within easy reach of Swinley Forest and the Thames Valley, making them ideal bases for day trips.
Bracknell has several options for parking larger vehicles, though it is worth planning ahead as some town centre car parks have height barriers. For overnight stays, dedicated motorhome aires are limited, so nearby campsites are often the best choice. Always check signage for height and length restrictions before entering any car park.
The best experience ever!! Amazing van and amazing people who run it
Muchas gracias. Gary y Michelle
Lovely experience and fantastic van. Clean and worked very well. Leonardo and Eleanora were very friendly and helpful. One small feedback is the fridge did not work very well but otherwise its a great van.
Muy buena experiencia. Ana nos ha tratado muy bien.
Proprietários espetaculares e super atenciosos. Autocaravana estava impecável, super confortável, excelente condução. Painéis solares dão autonomia total. Tudo impecável.
We had an amazing trip! Rafaela and Carina were so kind, and we couldn’t recommend their van enough 🤩🙏🏼 The van had everything we needed for a proper “van life” experience, and you can also stay at campsites whenever you want!
