The Netherlands packs over 2,000 kilometres of dedicated cycle paths into a country just 312 kilometres long from north to south, yet its flat, well-connected roads make it equally rewarding to explore by campervan or motorhome. From the iconic windmills of Kinderdijk, a UNESCO World Heritage Site near Rotterdam, to the vast tidal flats of the Wadden Sea — another UNESCO treasure stretching across the northern coast — there is an extraordinary variety of landscapes within short driving distances. Amsterdam to Maastricht is roughly 215 kilometres, while the drive from The Hague to Groningen covers about 280 kilometres, meaning you can cross entire provinces in a single morning and still have time to explore. The bulb fields of Lisse burst into colour each spring, the Hoge Veluwe National Park offers forested dunes and a world-class Kröller-Müller Museum, and the Delta Works in Zeeland stand as one of the modern engineering wonders of the world. Flat terrain and wide, well-maintained roads suit every type of leisure vehicle, from compact campervans to larger motorhomes. With Yescapa, you hire directly from local owners based right across the Netherlands, giving you flexible pick-up points and a wide choice of vehicles at peer-to-peer prices. Whether you fancy island-hopping across the Frisian Islands or meandering along quiet canal-side routes, the Netherlands rewards those who take the slow road.
The Netherlands is wonderful from late April through to October. King's Day on 27 April fills every city with orange-clad celebrations, and the Keukenhof gardens near Lisse are open from mid-March to mid-May, showcasing millions of tulips in bloom. Summer brings long daylight hours ideal for exploring the Wadden Sea coast and Frisian Islands, while September and October offer quieter roads and golden autumn colours in parks like the Hoge Veluwe. Book early for July and August — the most popular months — and consider spring or early autumn for more availability and competitive peer-to-peer prices on Yescapa.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.

The Netherlands offers a superb network of campsites spread from the sandy Zeeland coast to the wooded provinces of Gelderland and Drenthe. Most sites provide spacious pitches with electric hook-ups, fresh water, and waste disposal suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. Many Dutch campsites also feature heated sanitary blocks, Wi-Fi, and on-site shops, making longer stays comfortable. You will find options ranging from family-oriented holiday parks to quieter, nature-focused sites tucked among dunes and forests.
The Netherlands has no toll roads for standard vehicles, though some tunnels like the Westerscheldetunnel charge a fee. Motorways (A-roads) are well maintained and clearly signposted. The general speed limit on motorways is 100 km/h during the day (06:00–19:00) and 120 or 130 km/h at night, but motorhomes over 3,500 kg are limited to 80 km/h on most roads and 90 km/h on motorways. Rest areas with facilities appear regularly along major routes. Be aware that many city centres have low-emission zones (milieuzone), so check your vehicle's emission class before entering cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, or Utrecht.
Martine was a wonderful host and took us through the many features and inventory with kindness and good humour. She made great efforts to help overcome our language barrier, for which we were very grateful. The motor home was in excellent condition and very well appointed. The electric self lowering bed was very comfortable and retracted to the roof freeing up valuable space for the living quarters. The Fiat vehicle controls were easy to handle and once we got used to the size was no trouble motoring around the Loire. The vehicle was very reliable and well maintained. Martine was quick to reply to a water heating issue we had and resolved our query with easy to follow instructions. Overall, we were very satisfied with our 8 day rental and would not hesitate to recommend this motor home for future rentals.
We had a great honeymoon to the Dolomites in the GreyPanther! Thomas was very thorough with his introduction to the van, communication and I would highy recommend!
Minha primeira experiência com auto caravana foi boa. tudo foi explicado e orientado pelo proprietário e correu tudo bem sem problemas, adoramos. O carro atendeu minha família de 7 pessoas com conforto.
Romeo and his 2 friends where great renters. They took good care of Dolly and returned her in good condtions. These where reasponsable young men. I can reccomend them as renters.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience renting Fiona (the van). It has been beautifully made, and all the tiny little details have been so well thought out to make it extra cosy. It is easy to drive, cute and compact, but never felt too small. The owner was so lovely and helpful, and the overall the rental experience was so smooth. It made a very memorable and special trip :)
