Renfrewshire sits just west of Glasgow and holds the distinction of being home to Paisley Abbey, founded in 1163, which houses one of the finest collections of medieval stone carvings in Scotland. The region stretches from the banks of the River Clyde in the north to the Gleniffer Braes Country Park in the south, offering a compact but rewarding landscape for touring by campervan. From Paisley to the coastal town of Langbank is roughly 13 km, while the drive from Erskine Bridge south to Lochwinnoch — a village known for its RSPB nature reserve — covers around 24 km through rolling farmland and quiet roads. Renfrewshire's heritage trail takes in the Coats Observatory in Paisley, one of the oldest public observatories in Scotland, and the Thomas Coats Memorial Baptist Church, often called the "Baptist cathedral of Europe." The Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park, which extends into the western hills, provides open moorland, reservoirs, and well-maintained trails ideal for walkers and cyclists. Roads throughout Renfrewshire are generally well-surfaced and manageable for both campervans and motorhomes, with gentle gradients even in the hillier south. Through Yescapa, you can hire directly from local owners across the region, choosing from a range of vehicles that suit everything from a weekend break to a longer Scottish adventure. This peer-to-peer approach means competitive pricing and personal recommendations from people who know Renfrewshire best.
May to September is the prime window for exploring Renfrewshire by campervan, with long daylight hours and mild temperatures making it easy to enjoy outdoor attractions. The Paisley Food and Drink Festival, typically held each April, is a lively start to the season, while the Renfrew Gala Day in June brings community celebrations to the riverfront. Booking through Yescapa during shoulder months like May or September often means better availability and more competitive hire rates from local owners. Campsites and touring parks across Renfrewshire tend to be quieter outside the school holidays, giving you more flexibility to explore at your own pace.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.

Renfrewshire and its surrounding area offer a good selection of touring parks and campsites suited to both campervans and motorhomes. You will find sites with electric hook-ups, hardstanding pitches, and modern shower blocks, whether you prefer a rural setting near the Clyde Muirshiel hills or a convenient base closer to Paisley. Many sites in Renfrewshire welcome short stays, making them ideal for weekend getaways as well as longer tours.
Renfrewshire benefits from excellent motorway links, with the M8 connecting Paisley to Glasgow in under 15 minutes and the M77 providing a route south towards Ayrshire. There are no toll roads in the region, so you can travel freely without additional costs. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3.05 tonnes are 60 mph on dual carriageways and 50 mph on single carriageway roads. The A737 runs west towards Irvine and is well suited to larger vehicles, though some rural lanes in the southern hills around Lochwinnoch can be narrower. Rest areas and fuel stops are plentiful along the main routes.
We had an amazing trip! Rafaela and Carina were so kind, and we couldn’t recommend their van enough 🤩🙏🏼 The van had everything we needed for a proper “van life” experience, and you can also stay at campsites whenever you want!
We hired a motorhome from Cemil for a week to travel around Switzerland. We also visited France, Germany and Liechtenstein. Before the trip Cemil was helpful and responded to questions promptly. On the day of pick up he met us at the train station and the handover was smooth and quick. At the end if the trip it was also a very smooth transition and Cemil kindly drove us back to the airport. The van was great - very easy to drive and everything worked perfectly. All tolls and insurance were covered. We were very happy with the motorhome and would highly recommend renting from Cemil.
We had a great experience hiring this motorhome. Everything went smoothly and we had absolutely zero issues throughout our trip. Fernando kept us informed about everything from the beginning and was very friendly and helpful. He was also very flexible with both the pickup and drop-off times, which made everything much easier. The location is perfect, especially if you're arriving via Prague Airport. We travelled all the way to Hungary and back to Poland, staying at several off-grid locations along the way. We had an amazing time at Lake Balaton in Hungary and also loved our stay at the Pod Opaleńcem campsite in Świeradów-Zdrój, Poland. We would definitely recommend this motorhome hire and would happily rent from Fernando again!
Had a great time renting Dario's van. The pick-up was smooth and we were off and driving very quickly. Would highly recommend!
We went for a 7 days trip with 2 of my friends. It was an amazing time. Camper was really great - in a good condition, clean, comfortable. We did 1000km without any problems. I can recommend this car and Alvaro as a very nice owner.
