Perthshire sits at the geographical heart of Scotland, where the River Tay — the longest river in the country at 193 km — carves through a landscape of lochs, forests and rolling farmland. The region's capital, Perth, earned its Royal Burgh status in the 12th century and today serves as a gateway to the Scottish Highlands. You can wander through Scone Palace, the historic crowning place of Scottish kings, or explore the Black Watch Castle and Museum to learn about one of the oldest Highland regiments. Just 25 km north of Perth, the town of Dunkeld offers the restored Cathedral and access to the Hermitage, a woodland walk leading to Ossian's Hall overlooking the River Braan. Head 50 km west and you reach Loch Tay, a freshwater loch stretching 23 km beneath the slopes of Ben Lawers, Perthshire's highest peak at 1,214 metres. The roads here are well suited to larger vehicles, with wide A-roads connecting most towns, though single-track lanes with passing places are common in the glens. Pitlochry, roughly 43 km north of Perth, is home to the Pitlochry Festival Theatre and the famous salmon ladder at Pitlochry Dam. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan or motorhome directly from local owners across the region, giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace while benefiting from peer-to-peer pricing and personal recommendations from people who know these roads well.
Perthshire comes alive from May to September, when long daylight hours make the most of the lochs and glens. The Enchanted Forest, a sound-and-light show held in Faskally Wood near Pitlochry each October, is one of Scotland's most popular autumn events and well worth timing your trip around. Summer brings the Perth Show in August, a traditional agricultural event celebrating rural life. Hiring a campervan through Yescapa during spring or early autumn means you can enjoy quieter campsites and competitive peer-to-peer rates while still catching fine weather for driving through the Highlands. Book ahead for July and August to secure the best choice of motorhome from local owners.

Perthshire offers a fine range of campsites spread across river valleys, lochsides and woodland clearings. Whether you are travelling in a compact campervan or a full-size motorhome, you will find pitches with electric hook-ups, fresh water, waste disposal and shower blocks. Many sites sit within easy reach of walking trails and local attractions, making them ideal bases for exploring the region.
Perth city centre has several car parks that can accommodate larger vehicles, though height barriers apply at some multi-storey facilities. Overnight parking in a campervan or motorhome is generally permitted at designated aires and campsites rather than public car parks. Always check local signage for restrictions on vehicle length and overnight stays.
Communication with the owner was great, van was immaculate, heaps of choice, love the peer to peer concept. Easy to add an extra driver and ID checks were very thorough but straightforward. Changing dates wasn't so easy, the owner was great, but the process at the back end took some manual effort. Teething problems, not a big deal. Main area that needs improving (for me anyway) is the deposit. There was a single line in a table stating Deposit: cash or transfer, that I hadn't seen. The owner asked for the cash or a transfer when we were at the car, which he explained was normal process, but Yescapa could have explained beforehand. I transferred €2000 directly to the owner, which didn't feel comfortable. I had expected this would all be done via Yescapa. I ended up losing €45 in exchange rate variations + fees as well, the owner's bank had challenges which meant it to 5 days to get a lot of cash back. It was lucky we had that amount at hand. I would use Yescapa again. I hope they can tidy up and improve the processes though.
Very easy and open person… all went well , on time and with all the agremants.
Incredible time spent across the south of France with an incredible van! From beach, lakes, mountains and fields, it got me places I didn’t even pre conceive. Can’t speak more highly of my over all experience from van collection at train station to drop off. Drives smoother than my Suzuki jimny and can confirm very 6ft 4 friendly.
We had an amazing experience hiring Eli's campervan! It was perfect for our family of four – myself, my partner, and our two young daughters. The van was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed for our trip. It was easy to drive, well-equipped, and made exploring the malaga so much more enjoyable. The owners were friendly, helpful, and made the whole rental process smooth from start to finish. We made some unforgettable family memories and wouldn't hesitate to rent this campervan again. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a fun, comfortable, and hassle-free adventure in Spain. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We had a great experience. All went smoothly and the camper van was perfect. Mike was very accommodating and communicative throughout and we would recommend highly.
Communication was easy, the vehicle is in good condition and looks like the shared photos. Has the amenities needed and comfy bedding. Having the solar charger is a plus given we didn't drive much, so there was no need for recharging with electricity.
