Angus stretches across 842 square miles of eastern Scotland, where the Cairngorms' southern foothills roll down through fertile farmland to a 50-mile coastline along the North Sea. The region is home to Glamis Castle, the childhood residence of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother and one of Scotland's most storied fortified houses. From the coastal town of Arbroath — famous for its 12th-century abbey and traditional smokies — to the peak of Glen Clova in the Angus Glens, the landscape shifts dramatically within just 35 miles. The city of Dundee, sitting at the region's southern edge, is roughly 60 miles north-east of Edinburgh and serves as a natural gateway for exploring Angus by road. Inland, the Angus Glens offer five parallel valleys cutting into the Grampian Mountains, each with single-track roads that reward patient drivers with views of red deer, golden eagles, and ancient Caledonian pine. The coastline between Montrose Basin — a tidal nature reserve — and the red sandstone cliffs at Auchmithie is ideal for slow-paced touring. Whether you prefer a compact campervan for navigating the glens' narrow lanes or a larger motorhome for coastal stops with full facilities, Yescapa connects you directly with local owners across Angus and neighbouring Tayside, making it straightforward to hire a vehicle that suits your trip perfectly.
May to September is the prime window for exploring Angus by campervan, when daylight stretches past 10 pm and the Angus Glens are fully accessible. The Arbroath Sea Fest in August celebrates the town's fishing heritage with harbour events and fresh smokie tastings. Autumn brings the Dundee Design Festival in September, plus spectacular red and gold colours across Glen Prosen and Glen Esk. Campsites along the Angus coast tend to be quieter outside July and August, and with Yescapa's peer-to-peer model you can often find better hire rates in the shoulder months of May, June, and September.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
Follow the Angus coastline from Dundee to Montrose, passing Broughty Ferry's sandy beach and the red cliffs at Auchmithie. A campervan handles the harbour roads at Arbroath perfectly. Around 95 km with plenty of seafood stops and coastal walks along the way.
Start in Kirriemuir and wind through Glen Prosen and Glen Clova before looping back via Loch Lee in Glen Esk. This 120 km route suits a compact campervan on the single-track roads. Watch for red deer and golden eagles in the upper valleys.
Head north from Dundee on the A90 through Angus to Stonehaven and Royal Deeside, returning via the Cairnwell Pass. At 280 km, this motorhome-friendly route links Glamis Castle with Dunnottar Castle and the Cairngorms' eastern edge.
Travel from Dundee through Angus to Montrose, then continue north to Aberdeen and back inland via Banchory and Blairgowrie. This 350 km route connects Arbroath Abbey, Montrose Basin, and Crathes Castle, with well-spaced campsites throughout.
A 520 km loop from Dundee through Angus, Perthshire, and Highland Perthshire. Visit Glamis Castle, Pitlochry, Blair Atholl, and Loch Tay before returning through Blairgowrie. Motorhome pitches are plentiful along this well-established touring route.
Begin in Dundee and travel through Angus into the Cairngorms, north to Inverness, and back via the Speyside whisky trail and Royal Deeside. At 650 km, this campervan or motorhome adventure takes in Balmoral, Aviemore, and the Moray coast.

Angus offers a good spread of campsites from the coast to the glens, catering to both campervans and motorhomes. Coastal sites near Montrose and Arbroath typically provide electric hook-ups, modern shower blocks, and sea views. Inland, sites in the Angus Glens tend to be smaller and more peaceful, with basic facilities and direct access to hill-walking routes. Most sites across Angus welcome tourers from Easter through to October, with several open year-round.
Angus is well served by the A90 dual carriageway, which runs toll-free from Dundee north to Aberdeen and provides the main artery for motorhome travel through the region. Speed limits for vehicles over 3.05 tonnes are 50 mph on single carriageways and 60 mph on dual carriageways. The A90 features regular laybys and service areas near Forfar and Brechin. Inland roads through the Angus Glens — such as the B955 to Glen Clova — are mostly single-track with passing places, so a smaller campervan is more comfortable here. No toll roads exist anywhere in Scotland, keeping costs predictable.
Communication with the owner was great, van was immaculate, heaps of choice, love the peer to peer concept. Easy to add an extra driver and ID checks were very thorough but straightforward. Changing dates wasn't so easy, the owner was great, but the process at the back end took some manual effort. Teething problems, not a big deal. Main area that needs improving (for me anyway) is the deposit. There was a single line in a table stating Deposit: cash or transfer, that I hadn't seen. The owner asked for the cash or a transfer when we were at the car, which he explained was normal process, but Yescapa could have explained beforehand. I transferred €2000 directly to the owner, which didn't feel comfortable. I had expected this would all be done via Yescapa. I ended up losing €45 in exchange rate variations + fees as well, the owner's bank had challenges which meant it to 5 days to get a lot of cash back. It was lucky we had that amount at hand. I would use Yescapa again. I hope they can tidy up and improve the processes though.
Very easy and open person… all went well , on time and with all the agremants.
Incredible time spent across the south of France with an incredible van! From beach, lakes, mountains and fields, it got me places I didn’t even pre conceive. Can’t speak more highly of my over all experience from van collection at train station to drop off. Drives smoother than my Suzuki jimny and can confirm very 6ft 4 friendly.
We had an amazing experience hiring Eli's campervan! It was perfect for our family of four – myself, my partner, and our two young daughters. The van was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed for our trip. It was easy to drive, well-equipped, and made exploring the malaga so much more enjoyable. The owners were friendly, helpful, and made the whole rental process smooth from start to finish. We made some unforgettable family memories and wouldn't hesitate to rent this campervan again. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a fun, comfortable, and hassle-free adventure in Spain. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We had a great experience. All went smoothly and the camper van was perfect. Mike was very accommodating and communicative throughout and we would recommend highly.
Communication was easy, the vehicle is in good condition and looks like the shared photos. Has the amenities needed and comfy bedding. Having the solar charger is a plus given we didn't drive much, so there was no need for recharging with electricity.
