Aberdeen's granite architecture gives the city its famous nickname, the Silver City, with over 1,800 listed buildings catching the light across its skyline. Situated on Scotland's north-east coast where the rivers Dee and Don meet the North Sea, Aberdeen offers a compelling mix of maritime heritage, green spaces and cultural attractions. Marischal College, one of the largest granite buildings in the world, anchors the city centre, while the Aberdeen Maritime Museum on Shiprow tells the story of the city's deep connection to the sea, from clipper ships to the North Sea oil industry. A short walk away, Provost Skene's House dates back to 1545 and showcases centuries of local life. For open-air exploration, Duthie Park spans 44 acres and is home to the David Welch Winter Gardens, one of Europe's largest indoor gardens. Dundee sits 107 km to the south, and the gateway to Royal Deeside and Balmoral Castle is just 65 km west along the A93. The surrounding Aberdeenshire countryside features well-maintained A-roads ideal for larger vehicles, making it easy to head out towards the coast or into the Cairngorms. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan or motorhome directly from local owners in Aberdeen, giving you the flexibility to plan your own route through this rewarding corner of Scotland at your own pace.
Aberdeen comes alive in summer, when the long daylight hours make it easy to explore the coastline and countryside by campervan. The city hosts the Aberdeen International Youth Festival each August, bringing performances and events across multiple venues. In September, the Braemar Gathering — one of Scotland's most famous Highland Games — takes place just an hour's drive west. Spring and early autumn are excellent for quieter roads and more availability at campsites across Aberdeenshire. Through Yescapa, you can often find better hire rates outside peak season, thanks to flexible pricing set by local motorhome owners.

Aberdeen and the surrounding Aberdeenshire countryside offer a good selection of campsites suited to both campervans and motorhomes. Many sites provide electric hook-ups, hardstanding pitches, shower blocks and waste disposal points. Whether you prefer a coastal pitch near the fishing villages to the south or a countryside setting closer to Royal Deeside, you will find well-maintained facilities within easy reach of the city.
Aberdeen permits short-stay parking for larger vehicles in several locations, though overnight parking on public streets is not generally allowed for motorhomes. Dedicated motorhome service points and car parks with generous height clearance make it straightforward to visit the city centre. Always check signage for height and length restrictions before entering multi-storey facilities.
This was our first experience hiring a van and it was very good. Patrick was super helpful and friendly. We experienced some problems with the battery but Patrick was very responsive and helpful trying to solve this. The van has everything you need, although a cradle for your phone would be useful if using for directions as there is no satnav. The bed was surprisingly spacious and very comfy- we slept very well considering the 40 degree heat wave! We would recommend this van to you. Thank you Patrick!
First time ever in a camper van abroad, have to say Diego was a great guy, helpful before our visit, during and made sure everything was smooth sailing/camping, thanks for ramming my sons first camping trip a succcess! R
Lovely campervan with everything you need, friendly owner and easy handover. The only down side was the security deposit process was difficult, as money was being transferred from a UK account to a French one. This was not instant on either transaction and unfortunately we ended up £58 down on our return due to exchange rates. I think using a deposit holding company would be a better option for both parties.
Our trip was truly amazing! The campervan had everything we needed and our host was super kind and helpful :)
Stefano was great I added the airport shuttle option and he was on time and friendly - the van was great i took it up to the Dolomites and it was small enough for all the roads and carparks and the perfect compact van with everything you'd need. It was warm enough and comfortable and useful. Great experience!
Nil and his partner were second time renters now in July 2026, back then Nov 2024. It was great having them again and I only have positive things to say about them :)! They left the van in impeccable condition, each time. They are flexible with timing or if there is any issue. They communicate well. I'm super happy to rent to them again and if any other renter reads this, don't hesitate at all!
