Why choose Weston-super-Mare for your road trip

Weston-super-Mare — a city worth exploring

Weston-super-Mare's Grand Pier, rebuilt after a devastating fire in 2008, reopened in 2010 with a striking contemporary design that draws over a million visitors each year. This seaside town on the Somerset coast sits along the Bristol Channel, where the second-highest tidal range in the world shapes the landscape and reveals vast sandy flats at low tide. You can stroll along the seafront promenade to the SeaQuarium, explore the heritage displays at the Weston Museum, or take the family to the Helicopter Museum in nearby Locking, home to the largest rotorcraft collection in the world. For a change of scenery, the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty begins just 10 km to the east, while the city of Bristol is only 35 km to the north-east, making it easy to combine coast and culture in a single trip. The flat coastal roads around Weston-super-Mare are well suited to larger vehicles, and several dedicated motorhome service points sit within a short drive of the town centre. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan directly from a local owner, which means you often collect your vehicle right here on the Somerset coast rather than trekking to a distant depot. Whether you plan to watch the sun set from Brean Down or cycle the traffic-free paths along the seafront, picking up a campervan in Weston-super-Mare puts you at the doorstep of some of the South West's finest coastline.

Best time to visit

Weston-super-Mare comes alive from May to September, when the seafront buzzes with events such as the Weston Air Festival in June, featuring aerobatic displays right over the beach. Autumn brings quieter campsites and lower hire prices, ideal if you prefer a more relaxed pace. Booking a campervan through Yescapa during the shoulder months of May or September often means better availability and competitive peer-to-peer rates from local owners. Whichever season you choose, Weston-super-Mare rewards a visit — winter walks along Brean Down are just as memorable as summer days on the sand.

An absolute 10/10 experience from start to finish! The owners were exceptionally professional, super friendly, and made everything from initial contact to booking and collection completely seamless. Meeting their beloved camper van, 'Olaf,' was the highlight of our trip. As first-time drivers of anything larger than an SUV, we were initially nervous, but Olaf completely surprised us—being fully automatic and featuring Android Auto infotainment system, he was an absolute breeze to drive and got us to our destinations hassle-free. The camper is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a short getaway, and honestly, you could easily stay much longer. If we ever find ourselves back in France, we would love to take Olaf out for another spin!

We absolutely loved our time in the caddy! Everything was great, from the collection, the functionality and the communication. The van is small but mighty, the owners have thought of every little detail (sink, shower, storage, kitchen, and a good sized comfy bed). We highly recommend using Yescapa and hiring this van- perfect for your dolomites adventure!
