Cheltenham's Regency architecture lines over 60 streets of elegant townhouses, making it one of the most complete Regency towns in England. Nestled on the western edge of the Cotswolds, this spa town offers a compelling mix of culture, green spaces and festivals throughout the year. The Cheltenham Racecourse, home to the famous Gold Cup each March, draws visitors from across the country, while the Holst Birthplace Museum celebrates the composer of The Planets suite. Stroll through Imperial Gardens or explore the independent shops along the Promenade, widely regarded as one of the finest tree-lined boulevards in the country. Pittville Park, the largest ornamental park in Cheltenham, surrounds the striking Pittville Pump Room where you can still taste the town's original spa waters. For a change of scenery, Gloucester is just 14 km to the west, with its magnificent cathedral, and the market town of Cirencester sits 24 km to the south-east at the heart of the Cotswolds. The surrounding countryside is ideal for touring by campervan, with rolling hills, honey-coloured villages and quiet lanes to discover at your own pace. A motorhome gives you the freedom to park up and explore places like Sudeley Castle or Cleeve Hill, the highest point in the Cotswolds. With Yescapa, you hire directly from local owners in the Cheltenham area, which means a personal welcome, insider tips and a peer-to-peer approach that keeps costs fair for everyone.
Cheltenham comes alive during festival season, with the Cheltenham Literature Festival in October and the renowned Cheltenham Jazz Festival each spring drawing enthusiastic crowds. March is a highlight too, when the Gold Cup meeting fills the racecourse and the town buzzes with energy. Summer months are ideal for campervan touring through the Cotswolds, with long daylight hours and plenty of campsite availability nearby. For quieter roads and easier parking, consider visiting in early autumn. With Yescapa, you can often find better hire rates outside peak weekends, thanks to flexible pricing set by local owners in the Cheltenham area.
Cheltenham is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Head 45 km north-east into the Cotswolds to reach Broadway, one of the area's most picturesque villages. Stop at Broadway Tower for panoramic views, then visit Snowshill Manor, a National Trust property packed with eclectic collections. Campervan parking is available at the village car park.
Drive 65 km north to Shakespeare's birthplace. Visit the Royal Shakespeare Theatre on the banks of the River Avon and explore Anne Hathaway's Cottage in Shottery. The route passes through charming Cotswold villages, and motorhome-friendly parking is available near the town centre.
Travel 120 km west into Wales to reach the Brecon Beacons National Park. Hike up Pen y Fan, the highest peak in southern Britain, and explore the waterfalls at Ystradfellte. Several campervan-friendly campsites sit along the A40 corridor with full hook-ups and scenic pitches.
Head 150 km south-west to combine two great cities. Explore the Roman Baths and Royal Crescent in Bath, then continue to Bristol for the Clifton Suspension Bridge and harbourside. Both cities offer dedicated motorhome parking areas within easy reach of the centre.
Cover 210 km west to reach the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Walk sections of the coastal path near St Davids, Britain's smallest city, and visit Tenby's colourful harbour. Campervan touring here is rewarding, with well-spaced campsites along the coastline.

Cheltenham sits at the foot of the Cotswolds, so you will find a good selection of campsites in the surrounding countryside. Many offer hardstanding pitches suited to both campervans and motorhomes, with electric hook-ups, modern shower blocks and waste disposal points. Several sites are within a short drive of the town centre, making it easy to enjoy Cheltenham's festivals and restaurants while returning to a peaceful rural pitch each evening.
Cheltenham offers several options for parking larger vehicles. The town centre has height restrictions on many multi-storey car parks, so plan ahead if you are driving a motorhome or high-top campervan. Overnight parking on public roads is generally permitted unless signage states otherwise, but always check local restrictions. Dedicated areas on the outskirts provide more space and easier access for bigger vehicles.
We absolutely loved our time in the caddy! Everything was great, from the collection, the functionality and the communication. The van is small but mighty, the owners have thought of every little detail (sink, shower, storage, kitchen, and a good sized comfy bed). We highly recommend using Yescapa and hiring this van- perfect for your dolomites adventure!
We hired the van for 8 nights and it was perfect. Went up to the mountains and down to the beach. It was very spacious and well kitted out. The owners are also lovely, accommodating and quick to reply to our message
Both Jesus and Susana were very communicative and made the rental process very easy. The van is basically new in very good condition and easy to handle. It was fun cooking in remote places having a beautiful view and having a large fridge really helped to keep all cool and fresh. We had a nice time with it and would certainly recommend it to others.
