What you need to know about roads and motorways in Devon

Devon has no motorways, so most travel is via A-roads such as the A38 (Devon Expressway) linking Exeter to Plymouth and the A361 (North Devon Link Road) to Barnstaple. These dual carriageways are well maintained and suitable for motorhomes, though speed limits for vehicles over 3.05 tonnes are 50 mph on single carriageways and 60 mph on dual carriageways. Many rural roads are narrow with passing places, so a campervan can be more practical than a larger vehicle. There are no toll roads in Devon.
