Truro's Royal Cornwall Museum holds over 100,000 artefacts spanning Cornish history from the Bronze Age to the present day. As Cornwall's only city, Truro offers a distinctive blend of Georgian architecture, independent shops along cobbled Lemon Street, and the imposing Truro Cathedral — the first Anglican cathedral built on a new site in England since Salisbury in 1220. Wander through Victoria Gardens beside the River Truro or explore the Hall for Cornwall, a thriving arts venue in the heart of the city. Falmouth sits just 18 km to the south, where the National Maritime Museum Cornwall overlooks the world's third-largest natural harbour. Head 45 km north-east and you reach Bodmin Moor, a rugged landscape ideal for wild walks and open-air adventures. Truro's compact centre is easy to navigate, though the surrounding Cornish lanes can be narrow, so choosing the right-sized vehicle matters. With Yescapa, you hire your campervan or motorhome directly from local owners across Cornwall, giving you flexible pick-up options and genuine insider tips on the best routes and overnight spots. Whether you are planning a coastal loop or a countryside retreat, Truro makes a practical and rewarding base for exploring the far south-west by campervan.
Truro comes alive in late November with the City of Lights festival, when giant lantern processions wind through the streets to mark the start of the festive season. The Royal Cornwall Show, held each June near Wadebridge, is another highlight worth timing your trip around. Summer brings the longest days and warmest weather for coastal drives, making it the most popular season — so booking your campervan through Yescapa early helps you secure the best choice from local owners at competitive peer-to-peer prices. Spring and autumn are ideal for quieter roads and easier campsite availability around Truro, with mild conditions well suited to motorhome touring.

Truro has several car parks that can accommodate larger vehicles, though height barriers apply at some multi-storey sites. For motorhomes and campervans, surface-level car parks are the safest bet. Overnight parking in the city centre is generally not permitted, so plan to return to a campsite or designated stopover for the night. Always check signage for vehicle height and length restrictions before entering.

We really enjoyed our travels around Brittany in Clarisse's camper van. It was comfortable and easy to drive and had everything we needed for our holiday. Clarisse explained everything clearly to us before we set off.

The hire experience was excellent throughout. The owners were very friendly, accommodating and easy to deal with. We had such a good trip. The van is really well looked after and a pleasure to drive. The owners helped with anything we were unsure of and even gave us tips on where to eat and park up. We would definitely hire through these owners again.
