Ilminster's medieval minster church, the Minster of St Mary, features a striking crossing tower built from local Ham Hill stone that has dominated the town's skyline since the 15th century. Nestled in the rolling hills of south Somerset, this compact market town offers a rewarding base for exploring the surrounding countryside. The Ilminster Arts Centre on East Street hosts regular exhibitions and live performances, while Dillington House, a grand Tudor manor just 2 km south, runs courses and cultural events throughout the year. For a taste of local heritage, the Ilminster Museum on High Street charts the town's wool-trading past with fascinating artefacts. The Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty begins right on Ilminster's doorstep, with quiet lanes winding through wooded combes and open ridges — ideal terrain for a campervan adventure. Taunton lies just 18 km to the north, and the Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis is roughly 35 km to the south, making day trips easy. The A303 passes close by, giving motorhome travellers straightforward access from London and the south-east. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan directly from a local owner in the area, which often means flexible pick-up arrangements and helpful insider tips on the best lanes and laybys to enjoy this peaceful corner of Somerset.
Ilminster comes alive in summer, when the Ilminster Festival of Music and the Arts fills the town with concerts and workshops each July. The annual Ilminster Victorian Evening in December transforms the High Street with festive stalls and entertainment. Spring and early autumn are particularly pleasant for touring the Blackdown Hills by campervan, with quieter roads and mild conditions for walking. Book your Yescapa hire early for the July festival period, as local owners' vehicles are in high demand. Outside peak months, you can often find more competitive peer-to-peer rates on motorhome bookings.

Everything was as described by Giulio. He was very accommodating and ready for any question/doubt we had. It was our first experience with a motorhome and Giulio made sure we felt comfortable and safe trying his motorhome. Thank you Giulio and see you next time!
Grazie mille Lorenzo! Alla prossima :)
Excellent van! Comfortable. spacious and rives like a dream. Also the owner, Albert, is a pleasure to deal with. Incredible communicator, very helpful and honest!
We travelled through Portugal for two weeks with our family of five. The camper has everything you need, and the air conditioning was a huge plus during the summer. Marcelino always responded quickly and was very helpful whenever we had a question. We had a fantastic trip and highly recommend this camper!
Great comms and super helpful. Van had everything we needed.
Kevin was so helpful helping John and I embark on our first campervan journey with our dogs travelling the length of France in his lovely converted Boxer van we have all come to love as ''Olive''. The first trip of many our experience was overwhelmingly good. So many amazing places to stop at and amazing views from Blue Lakes , Vast Gorges and amazing views from High Mountain Passes, Olive got us there ! Then when we were all parked up she offered us such a lovely comfy place to spend the night. With mosquito nets and an ambient cooling system in the cab, we took some fans to cope with the ' above 40 degree at times, temperatures but the dogs and us were absolutely fine.. Olive's solar powered appliances really do work all day and through the night. Kevin was an amazing host - even though we 'lost ' his fuel tank cap! Don't ask us how! Id thoroughly recommend Olive to anyone . She is a lovely van and Kevin a great host.
