What you need to know about roads and motorways in Somerset

Somerset's main routes include the M5 motorway, which runs north–south through the county connecting Bristol to Exeter, and the A303, which crosses the south of the region towards Devon. Neither route charges tolls. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are 50 mph on single carriageways and 60 mph on dual carriageways and motorways. Many of Somerset's rural lanes are single-track with passing places, so plan your route if you are driving a larger vehicle. The M5 has regular service stations with facilities suitable for campervans and motorhomes, including waste disposal points at some stops.

We hired a motorhome from Cemil for a week to travel around Switzerland. We also visited France, Germany and Liechtenstein. Before the trip Cemil was helpful and responded to questions promptly. On the day of pick up he met us at the train station and the handover was smooth and quick. At the end if the trip it was also a very smooth transition and Cemil kindly drove us back to the airport. The van was great - very easy to drive and everything worked perfectly. All tolls and insurance were covered. We were very happy with the motorhome and would highly recommend renting from Cemil.
