What you need to know about roads and motorways in Torfaen

Torfaen is well connected by the A4042, which runs north–south through the borough linking Cwmbran to Pontypool and onward to Abergavenny. The M4 motorway lies just to the south, providing fast access to Cardiff and Bristol. There are no toll roads within Torfaen itself, though the Prince of Wales Bridge (M4) crossing from England carries a toll-free passage westbound. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3.05 tonnes are 50 mph on single carriageways and 60 mph on dual carriageways. Some roads around Blaenavon are steep and narrow, so check your vehicle height and width before heading into the upper valleys.
