The campervan is the ultimate all-rounder. Effortlessly practical and built for freedom, it’s just as at home navigating tight city streets as it is exploring the heart of the countryside.
Conwy's medieval walled town is one of only three in Britain to retain its complete circuit of defensive walls, stretching 1.3 km around the historic centre with 21 towers still standing. This compact county in North Wales packs an extraordinary variety of landscapes into a relatively small area, from the 1,085-metre summit of Carnedd Llewelyn in the Carneddau range to the sweeping sands of Llandudno's Victorian promenade. The drive from the coastal resort of Colwyn Bay to the mountain village of Capel Curig covers just 30 km yet takes you from sea level into the heart of Snowdonia National Park. Conwy Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by Edward I in 1283, dominates the estuary, while Bodnant Garden offers 32 hectares of terraced grounds above the River Conwy. Further inland, Betws-y-Coed sits at the confluence of three rivers and serves as a natural base for exploring the Swallow Falls and the Fairy Glen gorge. The A5 and A55 provide reliable access, though narrower lanes through the Conwy Valley reward slower exploration in a campervan. Whether you fancy coastal walks along the Wales Coast Path or mountain adventures in Snowdonia, hiring a motorhome through Yescapa connects you with local owners across North Wales who know these roads well. A campervan gives you the flexibility to wake up beside the sea one morning and beneath the peaks the next.
May to September is ideal for exploring Conwy by campervan, with long daylight hours and reliable access to mountain roads in Snowdonia. The Conwy Feast food festival in late October celebrates local produce and is well worth timing a trip around. Summer brings the busiest period, so booking your hire early on Yescapa often secures better rates from local owners. Spring and autumn offer quieter roads and rich colours across the Conwy Valley, perfect for a more relaxed motorhome tour through North Wales.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
Follow the B5106 from Conwy south through the lush Conwy Valley to Betws-y-Coed, then loop back via Llanrwst and Trefriw. Around 95 km with plenty of riverside stops, this route suits a campervan perfectly and passes the Trefriw Woollen Mills and Gwydir Castle.
Cruise 80 km along the Conwy coast from Penmaenmawr through Llandudno to Colwyn Bay and on to Abergele. Take in the Great Orme headland, Rhos-on-Sea and Llandudno's pier. Flat coastal roads make this an easy motorhome route with ample parking at each resort.
Start in Conwy and head into Snowdonia via Capel Curig, Pen-y-Pass and Beddgelert before returning through Porthmadog and the Conwy Valley. At 190 km, this medium loop takes in Swallow Falls, the Ogwen Valley and Llyn Gwynant — ideal for a well-equipped campervan.
A 320 km loop from Conwy west to Caernarfon, down the Llŷn Peninsula to Abersoch, then back via Dolgellau and Betws-y-Coed. You pass Caernarfon Castle, Portmeirion and Coed y Brenin forest. Motorhomes should note narrower roads on the Llŷn section.
Head west from Conwy along the coast to Anglesey, south through the Llŷn Peninsula and down to Aberystwyth before returning inland. At 480 km, you take in Beaumaris Castle, Harlech and Devil's Bridge. A longer campervan adventure with varied terrain and coastal campsites.
From Conwy, travel the full length of Wales — west to Anglesey, south through Snowdonia and Mid Wales to the Brecon Beacons, then east to Monmouth and back north. At 560 km, this epic motorhome journey covers Conwy Castle, Hay-on-Wye and the Black Mountains.

Conwy offers a fine spread of campsites, from coastal pitches with sea views to sheltered spots in the Conwy Valley and mountain-edge sites near Snowdonia. Many welcome both campervans and motorhomes with electric hook-ups, hardstanding pitches, modern shower blocks and waste disposal points. Whether you prefer waking to waves at Llandudno or birdsong near Betws-y-Coed, you will find well-maintained facilities across the county.
The A55 expressway runs along the North Wales coast through Conwy, connecting Holyhead to Chester and providing fast, toll-free access for motorhomes and campervans. Speed limits on dual carriageways are typically 60 mph for vehicles over 3.05 tonnes. The Conwy Tunnel on the A55 has a height restriction of 4.65 metres, so check your vehicle dimensions before travelling. Inland roads through the Conwy Valley and into Snowdonia are mostly single carriageway with passing places, so take your time and use designated laybys to let traffic pass.
Fantastic rental, they were so helpful and got us all set up for our first ever campervan trip. The van was spotless and practically brand new. Everything was so easy to use and we just sent up the bed each day as we set off for each new place.
Easy to the find location of the vehicle it was a 20 min journey from the airport. We went over all the features quickly was easy to understand. I had a great few days using the camper and would definitely use again. Thanks
Very nice car rental. Very easy to deal with.
Wow - couldn’t recommend renting this little van from Carlos anymore! Incredible experience and Carlos is great. Thank you so much
La caravana está en excelentes condiciones y Juan Miguel lo hace todo muy fácil. La caravana tiene todo lo necesario y más y la comunicación fue perfecta. La recomiendo sin duda!
We absolutely loved our time with Javier’s Fiat campervan and would happily recommend it. From the outset, Javier was incredibly helpful and accommodating, answering all our questions and requests, arriving exactly when agreed and giving us an excellent, thorough handover. The van itself was brilliantly equipped, stylish, comfortable and surprisingly spacious, with loads of clever storage. It genuinely felt like a little home on wheels rather than simply a rental camper. Another big plus is just how user-friendly everything is. Even if you have little or no previous campervan experience, you could feel completely confident using it. Javier provided clear instructions for all the important systems — water, pumps, lighting, electrics and general operation — and everything was incredibly straightforward and simple to use. Nothing felt complicated or intimidating. We travelled both on-grid and completely off-grid, and it handled both perfectly. The solar and battery system worked brilliantly, the fridge stayed perfectly cold, and the enormous water capacity was a massive bonus — we showered normally throughout our trip and never managed to run out of water! And the shower itself deserves a special mention: such a clever use of space and genuinely one of our favourite features. On the road it was equally impressive. It drove really well, was surprisingly economical on fuel, and its size was absolutely perfect for travelling around Spain. We took it through little roads and villages without any drama and could generally park it in a normal car-sized space — a huge advantage compared with travelling in a large motorhome. The interior design is super chic and homely, the layout has been really well thought through, and there was more than enough space and storage for everything we needed. Overall, fantastic value for money, a great owner and a fabulous little campervan that gave us exactly the adventure we wanted. Whether you’re an experienced campervan traveller or trying one for the first time, it’s an incredibly easy and enjoyable van to travel in. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would absolutely rent it again. Highly recommended — thank you, Javier! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
