North Wales is home to Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), the highest peak in England and Wales at 1,085 metres, which draws over 600,000 walkers to its summit each year. The region stretches from the Isle of Anglesey in the west to the borderlands near Wrexham in the east, offering a landscape shaped by mountains, river valleys, and a coastline that runs for roughly 200 miles. From Llandudno to Caernarfon, the distance is just 30 miles, yet the scenery shifts from Victorian seaside promenades to the imposing walls of a UNESCO World Heritage castle. Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park covers 823 square miles of rugged terrain, with winding passes such as the Llanberis Pass providing memorable driving for those at the wheel of a campervan. Further east, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct near Llangollen carries the canal 38 metres above the River Dee — another UNESCO-listed landmark well worth a detour. The coast around Harlech and Barmouth is ideal for slower-paced touring, with wide beaches and well-equipped campsites dotted along the route. Whether you fancy a motorhome adventure through mountain passes or a campervan trip along the Menai Strait, North Wales rewards those who take their time. Through Yescapa, you can hire directly from local owners across the region, choosing from a wide range of vehicles that suit everything from solo getaways to family holidays.
North Wales is wonderful from late spring through to early autumn. May and June bring long daylight hours and wildflower-covered hillsides, perfect for exploring Eryri by campervan. The Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in July draws performers from across the globe, while the Royal Welsh Show takes place nearby each July too. Summer is the busiest period, so booking your Yescapa motorhome hire early helps you secure the best choice of vehicles and competitive peer-to-peer prices. September and October offer quieter roads and golden colours across North Wales, with most campsites still open and welcoming.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
Circle the Isle of Anglesey on roughly 130 km of coastal roads, passing Beaumaris Castle, the colourful harbour at Amlwch, and South Stack Lighthouse near Holyhead. Campervan-friendly campsites sit close to sandy beaches at Rhosneigr and Benllech.
A 150 km loop through the heart of Eryri, taking in the Llanberis Pass, Pen-y-Pass, and the Ogwen Valley. Stop at Betws-y-Coed for supplies and Beddgelert for riverside walks. Best suited to smaller campervans on the narrower mountain stretches.
Follow 280 km of coast from Prestatyn to Aberdovey, calling at Llandudno's Great Orme, Conwy Castle, and the beaches at Barmouth. Motorhome service points and well-equipped sites appear regularly along the route.
Cover 320 km linking four UNESCO World Heritage castles — Conwy, Beaumaris, Caernarfon, and Harlech. Weave inland via Blaenau Ffestiniog and the Ffestiniog Railway before returning to the coast. Suitable for both motorhomes and campervans.
A 480 km journey from Caernarfon through Eryri, east to Llangollen and the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, then north via Wrexham and the Clwydian Range back to the coast. Campervan travellers enjoy varied terrain and plentiful overnight stops.
This 550 km grand tour covers Anglesey, the Llŷn Peninsula, Eryri's high passes, the Dee Valley, and the north coast. Visit Portmeirion, Dolgellau, and Chirk Castle along the way. A motorhome with good storage makes the extended trip comfortable.

North Wales offers a broad choice of campsites, from clifftop pitches overlooking the Irish Sea to sheltered spots in Eryri's valleys. Many sites provide full hook-ups, hardstanding pitches, and modern shower blocks suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. You will find well-maintained facilities across the region, whether you prefer a coastal base on Anglesey or a mountain retreat near Betws-y-Coed.
North Wales is well connected by the A55 expressway, which runs along the coast from Chester to Holyhead on Anglesey. There are no toll roads in the region, though the A55 crosses the Britannia Bridge to Anglesey, which can be busy during peak periods. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3.05 tonnes are 50 mph on single carriageways and 60 mph on dual carriageways. Mountain roads through Eryri, such as the A4086 over the Llanberis Pass, are narrow in places, so larger vehicles should check height and width restrictions before setting off. Lay-bys and rest areas are well signposted throughout the region.
Esperienza positiva
Beyond happy with the whole experience. The motorhome was very comfy and had everything we needed for our little girls camping trip. More importantly the owners were extremely friendly and beyond helpful at all times with the vehicle, the routes, the airport pickups and dropp offs and many many more things! All and all very happy with this experience!
The experience was seemles from start to finish. Handover was very straightforward with all the major information required exchanged. Fabian the owner remained available during the trip for any issues that may arise. The vehicle was as advertised and in very good condition. Very nice camping caravan, equipped with everything that you could need. The return process was straightforward when returning vehicle. Also my car was kept securley stored at the location for arrival and drop off. Overall very good experience and i would highly recommend and use again in the future.
We really enjoyed our travels around Brittany in Clarisse's camper van. It was comfortable and easy to drive and had everything we needed for our holiday. Clarisse explained everything clearly to us before we set off.
A really positive experience from start to finish.
