Why choose Sandbach for your road trip

Sandbach — a city worth exploring

Sandbach's market square is home to two Anglo-Saxon stone crosses dating back to the 9th century, among the finest surviving examples of early Christian sculpture in England. This historic market town in Cheshire sits at the junction of the A533 and A534, making it a practical base for exploring the surrounding countryside by campervan or motorhome. Stroll through the cobbled streets to discover St Mary's Church, a striking Grade I listed building with origins in the 12th century, or browse the independent shops along the High Street. The Wheelock Rail Trail offers a peaceful walking and cycling route along a disused railway line, ideal for stretching your legs after a day on the road. Nearby, Little Moreton Hall — a remarkable black-and-white timber-framed manor house managed by the National Trust — lies just 10 km to the south. The cathedral city of Chester is roughly 40 km to the west, perfect for a day trip along well-maintained A-roads. The Cheshire Plain's flat, open landscape means driving a larger vehicle here is straightforward, with wide roads and easy access to surrounding villages. With Yescapa, you can hire directly from local owners across the region, giving you the flexibility to collect your campervan close to Sandbach and set off without the detour to a distant depot. It is a genuinely convenient way to begin your Cheshire adventure.

Best time to visit

Sandbach comes alive in late June during the Sandbach Transport Festival, when classic vehicles fill the town centre and the market square buzzes with live music and food stalls. September brings the Sandbach Literary Festival, a quieter affair well suited to an autumn break. Summer months from June to August are ideal for campervan touring, with long daylight hours and comfortable temperatures for exploring the Cheshire countryside. If you prefer a calmer pace, spring and early autumn offer excellent conditions with fewer visitors at local campsites. Booking your motorhome through Yescapa ahead of the summer season helps you secure the best choice of vehicles from Sandbach owners at competitive peer-to-peer rates.

Absolutely loved staying in Alfreds campervan. The decor was beautiful. It had everything we needed, a perfect space for two people for time in nature travelling. It was so good having a fridge on the road. He answered any questions I had and the pick up/ drop off was great. Would definitely love to rent it again in the future when we come back to Spain. Thank you!

Patrick was very friendly and went above and beyond his duty to make sure everything went smoothly. He even took us to the station after we dropped the van off. We would highly recommend him.

Communication with Guillaume the owner was excellent. Always available to answer questions and give advice about travel destinations. The campervan was a perfect size for our first experience of this type of holiday. We used sites for our 7 night travel experience which worked well with electric/topping up water etc. Overall a great experience and would use this owner again.

Everything went smooth during the whole pick up and return process. The van has seen some life but everything was clean and in great working condition + the price was very competitive when comparing to anything else available at the time. Very enjoyable trip with the van, highly recommended
