The Lake District offers a wonderful variety of campsites spread from the northern shores of Ullswater down to the quieter valleys around Buttermere and Langdale. Whether you are in a compact campervan or a larger motorhome, you will find sites with electric hook-ups, hardstanding pitches, modern shower blocks and waste disposal points. Many sites sit right beside lakes or at the foot of fells, giving you direct access to walking trails and water activities without needing to drive.
The Lake District has no motorways running through the national park itself, though the M6 skirts its eastern edge and provides easy access from the north and south. Inside the park, roads are mostly single carriageway A-roads and narrow B-roads. Speed limits on many rural stretches drop to 30 or 40 mph, and some passes like Hardknott and Wrynose have gradients up to 30% — best suited to smaller campervans rather than large motorhomes. There are no toll roads in the region. Passing places are common on single-track lanes, so patience and courtesy go a long way. Several car parks have height barriers, so check signage if you are travelling in a taller vehicle.
We went for a 7 days trip with 2 of my friends. It was an amazing time. Camper was really great - in a good condition, clean, comfortable. We did 1000km without any problems. I can recommend this car and Alvaro as a very nice owner.
