Why choose Norwich for your road trip

Norwich — a city worth exploring

Norwich Cathedral, consecrated in 1145, holds the second-largest monastic cloisters in England and a spire that rises 96 metres above the city. This historic county town of Norfolk blends medieval architecture with a thriving cultural scene, making it a rewarding base for exploring East Anglia by road. Wander through the cobbled lanes of Elm Hill, one of the most complete medieval streets in the country, or spend an afternoon at Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery, which houses an impressive collection of fine art and natural history. The Forum, a striking modern building on Millennium Plain, offers exhibitions and events year-round, while the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts at the University of East Anglia displays works by Picasso, Bacon and Giacometti. The Norfolk Broads, a network of navigable rivers and lakes, begin just 10 km east of the city centre, and the sandy beaches of Great Yarmouth lie roughly 32 km to the east. Norfolk's flat, open roads are ideal for larger vehicles, with wide A-roads connecting the coast and countryside. Through Yescapa, you can hire a campervan or motorhome directly from local owners in and around Norwich, giving you the flexibility to set your own pace and discover the region on your own terms.

Best time to visit

Norwich comes alive in late October during the Norfolk & Norwich Festival of Light, when the city centre glows with lantern processions and illuminated art. Summer months bring the Royal Norfolk Show in late June, a two-day celebration of agriculture, food and countryside pursuits just outside the city. From May to September, the Norfolk Broads are at their best for exploring by campervan, with longer daylight hours and reliable conditions for coastal detours. Book your motorhome through Yescapa well ahead of the summer peak to secure the widest choice and the best peer-to-peer rates from local owners in Norwich.

An absolute 10/10 experience from start to finish! The owners were exceptionally professional, super friendly, and made everything from initial contact to booking and collection completely seamless. Meeting their beloved camper van, 'Olaf,' was the highlight of our trip. As first-time drivers of anything larger than an SUV, we were initially nervous, but Olaf completely surprised us—being fully automatic and featuring Android Auto infotainment system, he was an absolute breeze to drive and got us to our destinations hassle-free. The camper is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a short getaway, and honestly, you could easily stay much longer. If we ever find ourselves back in France, we would love to take Olaf out for another spin!

We absolutely loved our time in the caddy! Everything was great, from the collection, the functionality and the communication. The van is small but mighty, the owners have thought of every little detail (sink, shower, storage, kitchen, and a good sized comfy bed). We highly recommend using Yescapa and hiring this van- perfect for your dolomites adventure!
