West Yorkshire's Brontë Parsonage Museum in Haworth draws over 70,000 visitors each year to the hillside village where Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Brontë wrote their most celebrated novels. This metropolitan county in northern England blends industrial heritage with sweeping moorland, offering a rewarding mix of culture and countryside for anyone exploring by road. The cities of Leeds and Bradford sit just 15 km apart, yet each has a distinct character — Leeds with its Victorian arcades and thriving food scene, Bradford with its UNESCO City of Film status and the National Science and Media Museum. Head west from Leeds and within 40 km you reach Hebden Bridge, a creative market town nestled in the Calder Valley. The landscape shifts quickly here: canal towpaths give way to the open expanses of Ilkley Moor and the rugged Pennine trails above Todmorden. For campervan travellers, West Yorkshire provides easy access to quieter routes through the South Pennines, while motorhome-friendly parking is available at several visitor attractions. The region's compact size means you can base yourself in one spot and explore a different town each day. With Yescapa, you hire your campervan directly from local owners across West Yorkshire, choosing from a range of vehicles to suit your group and your plans — a flexible, community-driven way to discover this corner of northern England.
West Yorkshire is enjoyable from spring through to autumn. May brings the Saltaire Festival, celebrating the UNESCO World Heritage village with music, art, and guided walks. July and August offer the warmest weather for exploring Ilkley Moor and the Pennine trails, while September's Hebden Bridge Arts Festival fills the Calder Valley with performances and exhibitions. Campsites across West Yorkshire are open from Easter onwards, with the widest availability between June and September. Through Yescapa, you can often find better-value campervan hire outside the school holiday peak, making late spring and early autumn ideal for a more relaxed trip.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
Start in Haworth and drive across the moors to Hebden Bridge, then loop back via Oxenhope and Keighley. Around 80 km of rolling Pennine scenery, this route suits a compact campervan and passes the Brontë Parsonage Museum and Hardcastle Crags woodland.
Follow the Rochdale Canal corridor from Brighouse through Sowerby Bridge to Todmorden, covering roughly 95 km with detours. Stop at Eureka! in Halifax and explore the independent shops of Hebden Bridge. Motorhome service points are available in several valley towns.
A 180 km circuit linking Leeds, Saltaire, Haworth, Halifax, and Wakefield. Visit the Hepworth Wakefield gallery, Salts Mill, and the Piece Hall. This medium route gives you time to explore each town's industrial heritage, with campervan-friendly stops along the way.
Head from Leeds to Ilkley, cross the moors to Skipton, then south through the South Pennines via Todmorden and Holmfirth. At around 250 km, this route takes in Ilkley Moor, Bolton Abbey, and the Last of the Summer Wine country. Ideal for a motorhome with overnight stops.
Link West Yorkshire's cities with the Yorkshire Dales on this 350 km route from Bradford through Skipton to Settle, returning via Harrogate and Otley. Campervan travellers can enjoy Malham Cove, the Settle–Carlisle railway viaducts, and RHS Garden Harlow Carr.
A 500 km adventure from Wakefield across the Pennines to Marsden, Huddersfield, and into the Peak District fringe before looping north through Calderdale and back via Leeds. Take in Standedge Tunnel, the Colne Valley, and the National Coal Mining Museum on this extended West Yorkshire exploration.

West Yorkshire offers a good selection of campsites spread from the urban fringe to the open moorland. You can find pitches with electric hook-ups, water points, and waste disposal suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. Many sites sit close to the Pennine foothills, giving you easy access to walking trails and valley towns, while others are positioned near the main cities for day trips to museums and galleries.
West Yorkshire is well connected by the M62, which crosses the Pennines and links Leeds to Manchester, and the M1, running south from Leeds towards Sheffield and London. Neither motorway charges tolls. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3.05 tonnes are 60 mph on motorways and 50 mph on single carriageway roads. The M621 provides a useful ring route around Leeds city centre, while the A629 and A646 wind through the Calder Valley — scenic but narrower in places, so allow extra time in a larger vehicle. Service stations with dedicated motorhome parking are available along the M62 corridor.
The experience was seemles from start to finish. Handover was very straightforward with all the major information required exchanged. Fabian the owner remained available during the trip for any issues that may arise. The vehicle was as advertised and in very good condition. Very nice camping caravan, equipped with everything that you could need. The return process was straightforward when returning vehicle. Also my car was kept securley stored at the location for arrival and drop off. Overall very good experience and i would highly recommend and use again in the future.
We really enjoyed our travels around Brittany in Clarisse's camper van. It was comfortable and easy to drive and had everything we needed for our holiday. Clarisse explained everything clearly to us before we set off.
A really positive experience from start to finish.

The hire experience was excellent throughout. The owners were very friendly, accommodating and easy to deal with. We had such a good trip. The van is really well looked after and a pleasure to drive. The owners helped with anything we were unsure of and even gave us tips on where to eat and park up. We would definitely hire through these owners again.
