Leeds sits at the confluence of the River Aire and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, a waterway stretching 204 km that once powered the city's textile trade. Today the city blends industrial heritage with contemporary culture across landmarks such as the Royal Armouries Museum, Kirkstall Abbey, Leeds Art Gallery and the Corn Exchange. Briggate, the main shopping street, leads you past Victorian arcades including the ornate Thornton's Arcade, built in 1878. Roundhay Park, one of the largest urban parks in Europe, covers over 280 hectares of parkland and lakes just north of the centre. The Yorkshire Dales National Park begins roughly 50 km to the north-west, while the historic city of York lies only 40 km to the east, making Leeds a superb base for exploring the wider region. Roads heading out of the city connect quickly to the M1 and M62 motorways, giving you easy access in a larger vehicle. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan or motorhome directly from local owners in the Leeds area, which means flexible pick-up points and first-hand tips on the best routes through Yorkshire. Whether you are planning a weekend escape to the coast or a longer tour of northern England, starting from Leeds puts you within comfortable driving distance of moors, dales and seaside towns.
Leeds comes alive from May to September, when longer days make it easy to explore the surrounding countryside by campervan. The Leeds Festival, held every August bank holiday weekend near Bramham Park, draws huge crowds, so booking your motorhome hire through Yescapa well ahead is a smart move. Autumn brings the Leeds International Film Festival in November, a great reason to visit outside peak season. Peer-to-peer pricing on Yescapa often means more competitive rates during quieter months, giving you the freedom to travel when it suits you best.

Head 250 km north from Leeds through the rolling Northumberland countryside. Stop at Durham to visit the cathedral, then cross the border via Jedburgh and its ruined abbey. Edinburgh rewards you with Arthur's Seat and the Royal Mile. Allow 5–8 days and book campervan pitches early in summer.
A short 40 km drive east from Leeds brings you to York, where the Minster and the Shambles await. Spend time at the National Railway Museum and walk the medieval city walls. Motorhome parking is available at the Park & Ride sites on the outskirts. Ideal for a 1–3 day break.
Drive 80 km north-west from Leeds into the Yorkshire Dales. Explore Malham Cove's limestone pavement and the market town of Skipton with its well-preserved castle. Campervan-friendly sites dot the valleys around Wensleydale. Allow 2–4 days to enjoy the walking trails and waterfalls.
Travel 120 km north-east from Leeds across the North York Moors to reach the fishing port of Whitby. Visit the atmospheric abbey ruins and try freshly caught fish and chips on the harbour. Stop at Pickering for the steam railway. Plan 3–5 days and check height barriers at coastal car parks.
Cover 300 km west from Leeds to reach Snowdonia National Park in North Wales. Pass through Chester and its Roman walls before winding into the mountains. Hike up Snowdon or explore Betws-y-Coed village. Campervan pitches fill quickly in peak season, so reserve ahead. Allow 5–8 days for the full trip.
Head 160 km north-west from Leeds to the Lake District. Take in Windermere's shores and the charming town of Ambleside before driving over Kirkstone Pass. The Leeds area offers a good mix of campsite options for both campervan and motorhome travellers. Within the city itself you will find sites with electric hook-ups, hardstanding pitches and modern shower blocks. Heading into the surrounding Yorkshire countryside opens up even more choices, with rural sites offering spacious pitches, waste disposal points and family-friendly facilities. Book ahead during summer weekends to secure your preferred spot near Leeds.
Leeds offers several Park & Ride sites that can accommodate larger vehicles, making them a practical option when you want to visit the city centre without navigating narrow streets. Overnight parking in a motorhome or campervan on public roads is generally not permitted in Leeds, so plan to return to a campsite for the night. Always check height restrictions and bay sizes before parking, as some city-centre car parks have low barriers.
Everything was as described by Giulio. He was very accommodating and ready for any question/doubt we had. It was our first experience with a motorhome and Giulio made sure we felt comfortable and safe trying his motorhome. Thank you Giulio and see you next time!
Grazie mille Lorenzo! Alla prossima :)
Excellent van! Comfortable. spacious and rives like a dream. Also the owner, Albert, is a pleasure to deal with. Incredible communicator, very helpful and honest!
We travelled through Portugal for two weeks with our family of five. The camper has everything you need, and the air conditioning was a huge plus during the summer. Marcelino always responded quickly and was very helpful whenever we had a question. We had a fantastic trip and highly recommend this camper!
Great comms and super helpful. Van had everything we needed.
Kevin was so helpful helping John and I embark on our first campervan journey with our dogs travelling the length of France in his lovely converted Boxer van we have all come to love as ''Olive''. The first trip of many our experience was overwhelmingly good. So many amazing places to stop at and amazing views from Blue Lakes , Vast Gorges and amazing views from High Mountain Passes, Olive got us there ! Then when we were all parked up she offered us such a lovely comfy place to spend the night. With mosquito nets and an ambient cooling system in the cab, we took some fans to cope with the ' above 40 degree at times, temperatures but the dogs and us were absolutely fine.. Olive's solar powered appliances really do work all day and through the night. Kevin was an amazing host - even though we 'lost ' his fuel tank cap! Don't ask us how! Id thoroughly recommend Olive to anyone . She is a lovely van and Kevin a great host.
