Why choose Bradford for your road trip

Bradford — a city worth exploring

Bradford's Cartwright Hall Art Gallery has housed one of the finest collections of South Asian art in Europe since it opened in 1904 in the grand Lister Park. This West Yorkshire city sits at the edge of the Pennines, offering easy access to rolling moorland and dramatic valleys that reward exploration by road. The National Science and Media Museum on Little Horton Lane draws visitors with its IMAX cinema and interactive galleries dedicated to photography, television, and gaming. Just 15 km west of Leeds and 30 km south-east of Skipton, Bradford is perfectly placed for day trips into the Yorkshire Dales or across to the Brontë Parsonage Museum in Haworth. The city earned UNESCO City of Film status in 2009, and its Bradford Industrial Museum on Moorside Road tells the story of the wool trade that shaped these streets. Saltaire, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Bradford's northern fringe, features Salts Mill — a converted textile mill now home to the world's largest collection of David Hockney works. The surrounding landscape is ideal for campervan travel, with wide A-roads connecting the city to open countryside and well-equipped campsites dotted across the Dales. With Yescapa, you hire your motorhome or campervan directly from local owners, which means flexible pick-up points across the Bradford area and genuine tips on the best routes to explore.

Best time to visit

Bradford comes alive in June during the Bradford Festival, a free outdoor celebration of music, dance, and street performance across the city centre. The Bradford Literature Festival in late June and early July is another highlight, drawing authors and readers from across the country. Summer months are ideal for campervan trips into the nearby Yorkshire Dales, with longer daylight hours and comfortable driving conditions on moorland roads. Spring and autumn bring quieter campsites and lower hire prices through Yescapa, making it easier to book a well-equipped vehicle at a fair rate from a local owner. Winter visits suit those keen on cosy pub stops and frost-dusted Pennine walks.

Absolutely loved staying in Alfreds campervan. The decor was beautiful. It had everything we needed, a perfect space for two people for time in nature travelling. It was so good having a fridge on the road. He answered any questions I had and the pick up/ drop off was great. Would definitely love to rent it again in the future when we come back to Spain. Thank you!

Patrick was very friendly and went above and beyond his duty to make sure everything went smoothly. He even took us to the station after we dropped the van off. We would highly recommend him.

Communication with Guillaume the owner was excellent. Always available to answer questions and give advice about travel destinations. The campervan was a perfect size for our first experience of this type of holiday. We used sites for our 7 night travel experience which worked well with electric/topping up water etc. Overall a great experience and would use this owner again.

Everything went smooth during the whole pick up and return process. The van has seen some life but everything was clean and in great working condition + the price was very competitive when comparing to anything else available at the time. Very enjoyable trip with the van, highly recommended
