Northampton's Royal & Derngate theatre complex has hosted performances since 1884, making it one of the longest-running provincial venues in England. The town sits at the heart of the Nene Valley, where the River Nene winds through green parkland and historic bridges. You can explore Abington Park Museum, housed in a 15th-century manor, or wander the grounds of Delapré Abbey, a former Cluniac nunnery with beautifully restored gardens. The National Leather Collection at Northampton Museum and Art Gallery tells the story of the town's centuries-old boot and shoe trade. For families, Wicksteed Park in nearby Kettering, just 24 km north-east, offers one of Britain's oldest theme parks. Head 19 km south and you reach Towcester, a charming market town on the edge of the Silverstone circuit. Northampton's central position in the East Midlands means the road network fans out in every direction, with wide A-roads and plenty of laybys suited to larger vehicles. Whether you fancy a weekend loop through Rutland's rolling countryside or a longer tour towards the Cotswolds, Northampton is a practical and rewarding base. With Yescapa, you hire your campervan or motorhome directly from local owners, so you can pick up nearby and set off without delay. Northampton comes alive in June during the Northampton Carnival, one of the largest street parades in the East Midlands, filling Abington Park with music and food stalls. Northampton sits in a largely rural county, so you will find a good spread of campsites within easy reach. Options range from quiet farm-based pitches in the Nene Valley to larger, fully serviced parks closer to major roads. Most sites offer electric hook-ups, hardstanding pitches, and modern toilet and shower blocks suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. Several welcome dogs and have on-site shops for essentials.
Northampton offers several options for parking larger vehicles. The town centre has height-restricted multi-storeys, so motorhomes and campervans should use surface car parks on the outskirts. Overnight parking in public car parks is generally not permitted without checking local signage. Plan ahead and use dedicated stopovers or campsite facilities for overnight stays.
We hired the van for 8 nights and it was perfect. Went up to the mountains and down to the beach. It was very spacious and well kitted out. The owners are also lovely, accommodating and quick to reply to our message

Both Jesus and Susana were very communicative and made the rental process very easy. The van is basically new in very good condition and easy to handle. It was fun cooking in remote places having a beautiful view and having a large fridge really helped to keep all cool and fresh. We had a nice time with it and would certainly recommend it to others.
