Silverstone's iconic circuit has hosted the British Grand Prix since 1948, making this Northamptonshire village synonymous with world-class motorsport. Beyond the roar of engines, the surrounding area offers a surprisingly rich landscape for exploration. Stowe House and Gardens, managed by the National Trust, sits just 8 km to the north with over 250 acres of landscaped parkland. The Silverstone Interactive Museum brings the history of British racing to life through immersive exhibits and simulators. Towcester Racecourse, only 7 km south-east, hosts regular fixtures and family events throughout the year. For a change of pace, Blenheim Palace — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — lies 35 km to the south-west, while the university city of Oxford is roughly 50 km in the same direction. The gently rolling countryside of south Northamptonshire is ideal for campervan touring, with wide A-roads connecting market towns and open farmland offering easy navigation for larger vehicles. Quiet lanes lead to villages like Brackley and Stony Stratford, each with their own character and independent shops. With Yescapa, you can hire a motorhome or campervan directly from local owners in the area, giving you the flexibility to arrive on your own schedule — whether that is race weekend or a peaceful midweek escape into the heart of rural England.
The British Grand Prix in July draws motorsport fans from across the globe, so booking your campervan early for that period is a smart move. The Silverstone Festival, usually held in August, celebrates classic racing and live music over a full weekend. Spring and early autumn are excellent for quieter touring around the Northamptonshire countryside, with campsites less busy and more pitches available. Through Yescapa, you benefit from peer-to-peer pricing that often undercuts traditional hire companies, especially outside peak race weekends. Plan ahead for summer events, and you will find great value across the rest of the season.

The countryside around Silverstone offers a good selection of campsites suited to both campervans and motorhomes. Many are set in open farmland with spacious pitches, electric hook-ups, and modern shower and toilet blocks. During major race weekends, dedicated pop-up sites also open near the circuit. Outside event periods, you will find a relaxed atmosphere at year-round sites across south Northamptonshire and the surrounding counties.
Parking a larger vehicle near Silverstone is straightforward outside major event weekends. The circuit itself offers extensive car parks during race days, with designated areas for motorhomes and campervans. In nearby towns such as Towcester and Brackley, public car parks generally accommodate larger vehicles, though height barriers may apply in some multi-storey facilities. Overnight parking in lay-bys is not officially permitted in most of Northamptonshire, so using a campsite or dedicated aire-style stop is recommended.
The best experience ever!! Amazing van and amazing people who run it
Muchas gracias. Gary y Michelle
Lovely experience and fantastic van. Clean and worked very well. Leonardo and Eleanora were very friendly and helpful. One small feedback is the fridge did not work very well but otherwise its a great van.
Muy buena experiencia. Ana nos ha tratado muy bien.
Proprietários espetaculares e super atenciosos. Autocaravana estava impecável, super confortável, excelente condução. Painéis solares dão autonomia total. Tudo impecável.
We had an amazing trip! Rafaela and Carina were so kind, and we couldn’t recommend their van enough 🤩🙏🏼 The van had everything we needed for a proper “van life” experience, and you can also stay at campsites whenever you want!
