Lincolnshire's coastline stretches for over 50 miles along the North Sea, from the Humber Estuary down to The Wash, making it one of England's most rewarding counties to explore on four wheels. Inland, the Lincolnshire Wolds — an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty — roll through quiet villages and open farmland, offering peaceful driving with wide, uncrowded roads ideal for larger vehicles. Lincoln Cathedral, which held the title of the world's tallest building for over 200 years, anchors the historic city of Lincoln, while the market town of Stamford, roughly 80 miles to the south, is regularly named one of England's finest stone towns. Along the coast, the traditional seaside resort of Skegness sits about 42 miles east of Lincoln, drawing families to its long sandy beaches and Natureland Seal Sanctuary. Further south, the Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve provides a wilder stretch of dunes and salt marsh, perfect for a quiet afternoon walk. The flat, open landscape of the Fens in southern Lincolnshire means easy navigation for motorhomes and campervans alike, with long straight roads and generous parking. Through Yescapa, you can hire a campervan directly from local owners based across the county, choosing from a range of vehicles to suit your trip — whether you want a compact campervan for a coastal weekend or a fully equipped motorhome for a longer tour of the Wolds and beyond.
Lincolnshire is wonderful from late spring through to early autumn. May brings the Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival, a great excuse to park up your campervan and explore the countryside on foot. The coast around Skegness and Mablethorpe is liveliest from June to August, when campsites are fully open and the long days let you make the most of the beaches. For a quieter trip, September and October offer golden light over the Fens and fewer visitors at popular spots. Yescapa's peer-to-peer model means you can often find competitive hire prices outside the peak summer weeks, giving you more flexibility to travel when it suits you.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
Follow the coast from Cleethorpes south through Mablethorpe to Skegness, covering around 130 km. Stop at Donna Nook for grey seal colonies and Gibraltar Point for birdwatching. Flat roads suit any campervan, with plenty of seaside campsites along the way.
A 150 km loop from Louth through the Lincolnshire Wolds, taking in the villages of Horncastle and Old Bolingbroke, birthplace of Henry IV. Quiet lanes wind through rolling chalk hills, and motorhome-friendly parking is available in most market towns.
Drive 280 km from Lincoln Cathedral south through Sleaford and Grantham to the honey-stone streets of Stamford. Visit Belvoir Castle and Burghley House along the route. A mix of A-roads and country lanes makes this ideal for a well-equipped motorhome.
Starting in Boston, this 320 km circuit explores the Fens via Spalding and Long Sutton before looping around The Wash to King's Lynn and back. Dead-straight roads cross wide-open farmland — easy driving in a campervan with big skies overhead.
A 500 km figure-of-eight covering Lincoln, the Wolds, Skegness, Boston, Spalding, and Stamford. You experience coast, countryside, and cathedral city in one trip. Campsites are well spaced across Lincolnshire, making overnight stops simple to plan.
Stretch to 550 km by linking Lincolnshire with Rutland Water and the Vale of Belvoir. Start in Lincoln, head south to Oakham, then return via Grantham and the Wolds. A longer campervan adventure with varied scenery and plenty of rural campsites.

Lincolnshire offers a fine spread of campsites, from coastal parks with sea views to quiet rural spots tucked into the Wolds. Many sites provide full hook-ups, hardstanding pitches, and modern shower blocks suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. Whether you want to wake up near the beach or in the heart of farming country, you will find well-maintained facilities across the county.
Lincolnshire's main road artery is the A1, running along the county's western edge and linking it to the national motorway network. There are no toll roads within the county, so driving is straightforward. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are 50 mph on single carriageways and 60 mph on dual carriageways. Many rural roads across the Wolds and Fens are single-track with passing places, so take your time and use the frequent lay-bys. The A46 and A15 provide good north–south routes through the county, and most market towns have suitable parking for larger vehicles.
My partner and I have been on van trips before, but only borrowing friend's vans in the UK. This was our first time renting a van abroad, first time using Yescapa and first time exploring the Picos de Europa. Overall it was a super smooth experience and enabled us to have one of the best holidays ever - so we would fully recommend! Firstly, the booking experience. We were visiting during the eclipse and so we were wary that everything was getting booked up. We stumbled upon Yescapa and this van, then the booking experience was pretty simple so it kind of felt too good to be true. Picking up the van was a doddle, with all the instructions sent clearly over WhatsApp. This meant we felt comfortable hitting the ground running. Secondly, the van was absolutely perfect for our holiday. The shower out the back was perfect for cooling down and cleaning off after runs. The camp stove worked great for making porridge in the morning, and we were grateful for the included chairs - especially when it came to watching the eclipse. We found that the fridge tended to heat the cabin when it was running which meant it worked quite well for helping control the temperature i.e. we'd leave the fridge running if there was a cold night due. Finally, thank you to Safira the host for letting us use the van for our wonderful trip. She was very quick to respond to any questions, and super lovely in helping us out during pick-up and drop-off.
We had a lovely few days in France in the motorhome. We picked up about 30 minutes from Calais which was very convenient for the ferry. The van had everything we needed and we had a great time visiting the Normandy beaches and D day sites.
We had the best experience with this campervan and were so sad when it was time to hand it back! We had it for 3 nights during peak summer at a really reasonable price, and it was absolutely perfect for our little adventure. The host was fantastic and always replied incredibly quickly whenever we had a question. The van itself had everything we could possibly need and more. You can really tell that the owner has thought about all the little details — from salt and pepper, coffee and tea, to plenty of kitchenware and even a coffee machine! The bed was super comfortable and really easy to assemble, and the fan worked brilliantly, which was definitely appreciated during the summer heat. We honestly loved every minute of van life and were genuinely sad to leave. Thank you for helping make our trip so special — we would definitely recommend this campervan to anyone looking for an amazing adventure!
Fantastic rental, they were so helpful and got us all set up for our first ever campervan trip. The van was spotless and practically brand new. Everything was so easy to use and we just sent up the bed each day as we set off for each new place.
Easy to the find location of the vehicle it was a 20 min journey from the airport. We went over all the features quickly was easy to understand. I had a great few days using the camper and would definitely use again. Thanks
Very nice car rental. Very easy to deal with.
