Sydney Airport, officially known as Kingsford Smith Airport, handles over 44 million passengers each year and sits just 8 kilometres south of the city centre, making it one of the most conveniently located international airports in the world. From here, you can reach the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge in roughly 20 minutes by road, while the Blue Mountains — a UNESCO World Heritage–listed wilderness of sandstone cliffs and eucalyptus forest — lie about 100 kilometres to the west. Heading south, the Grand Pacific Drive stretches 140 kilometres along dramatic coastal cliffs to Kiama, passing the famous Sea Cliff Bridge near Coalcliff. North of the city, Palm Beach and Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park offer quieter shores and Aboriginal rock engravings. Sydney's surrounding region is remarkably varied: from the Hunter Valley wine country to the Royal National Park, Australia's oldest national park, established in 1879. Picking up a campervan or motorhome near Sydney Airport is straightforward, and with Yescapa you hire directly from local owners across the greater Sydney area. This peer-to-peer approach means you can find a campervan that suits your group size and budget, whether you plan to cruise the Pacific coast or explore the hinterland. Sydney is the ideal launchpad for a road trip through New South Wales, and hiring from a nearby owner lets you hit the road within minutes of landing.
Sydney enjoys warm, dry conditions from October through April, making it the prime window for campervan travel. The Vivid Sydney festival lights up the harbour each May and June, while the Sydney Royal Easter Show in March or April draws crowds to Olympic Park. Winter months from June to August remain mild, with daytime temperatures around 17 °C — comfortable for exploring without the peak-season demand. Booking through Yescapa during the cooler months often means more choice and better rates from local owners. For coastal road trips, the shoulder months of September and October bring wildflower blooms and pleasant driving weather across New South Wales.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
Follow the coast 280 km from Sydney to Jervis Bay, crossing the spectacular Sea Cliff Bridge near Coalcliff and stopping at Wollongong's lighthouse. Kiama's famous Blowhole and the white sands of Hyams Beach await further south. Plenty of campervan-friendly stops line this route.
Head 100 km west from Sydney to the Blue Mountains, taking in the Three Sisters at Echo Point and the Scenic Railway at Katoomba. Continue to historic Bathurst, home of the Mount Panorama circuit. This 200 km loop suits a motorhome of any size.
Drive north through the Hunter Valley wine region, pausing at Pokolbin's cellar doors, then on to Nelson Bay for dolphin watching in Port Stephens. At 420 km return, this route mixes food, wildlife and beaches — ideal in a campervan with a well-stocked fridge.
Travel 350 km south-west from Sydney through the Southern Highlands, stopping at Bowral's gardens and Fitzroy Falls. Continue to Canberra to visit the Australian War Memorial and Lake Burley Griffin. Motorhome parking is well signposted in the capital.
This 620 km coastal drive heads north via the Central Coast, Newcastle and Port Macquarie before reaching Coffs Harbour and its iconic Big Banana. Campervan-friendly holiday parks dot the route, and you pass through Myall Lakes National Park along the way.
Cover 900 km of New South Wales coastline from Sydney to Byron Bay, passing through Forster, Nambucca Heads and Yamba. Finish at the Cape Byron Lighthouse, mainland Australia's most easterly point. Allow time for whale watching near Coffs Harbour in a hired campervan.

The greater Sydney region and surrounding New South Wales coast offer a wide range of campsites for every style of trip. You can find beachfront parks with powered sites and full amenities, bush campsites inside national parks, and well-equipped holiday parks with camp kitchens and laundries. Most sites cater to both campervans and motorhomes, with level hardstanding pitches, electric hook-ups and modern shower blocks.
New South Wales motorways around Sydney use electronic tolling — you need an e-tag or pass, as there are no cash toll booths. Key toll roads include the M2, M5, M7 and the Sydney Harbour Tunnel. Speed limits for motorhomes over 4.5 tonnes are generally 100 km/h on motorways, compared with 110 km/h for cars. The Pacific Motorway (M1) heading north and the Princes Motorway (M1) heading south are well-maintained dual carriageways with regular rest areas. Larger vehicles should note height restrictions on some older tunnels and overpasses in the inner city.
Everyting more than perfect, happy to welcome you again!
Amazing renters, welcome again )
We rented this camper van for a two-week trip through the Alps and southern france, it was fantastic from start to finish. The van was reliable and easy to drive, even on the steep, winding alpine mountain roads. It also performed exceptionally well on the motorways, with cruise control making the longer journeys comfortable and stress-free. The layout was perfect for two people. The rear seating folds out to a bed and pop-top roof bed provided plenty of space and privacy when sleeping. During the day, the seating area and well-equipped kitchen made the van feel comfortable and practical, while the retractable awning was great for relaxing outside on warm evenings. The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming. On arrival, they took the time to explain all the features of the van and made sure we were comfortable before setting off. The return process was just as easy and straightforward. Overall, this is a fantastic camper van owned by a lovely family. We had an amazing trip and would highly recommend both the van and its owners to anyone looking for a memorable campervan adventure. We would happily rent from them again in the future.
Incredibly easy- Hector was there to talk us through everything. He was happy to answer all of our questions and gave us excellent practical advice. We felt fully supported abd it gave us a real confidence boost when we took control of the camper. We had to contact Hector during out trip sbout the van and he was on hand and easy to engage with. Ditto with our drop off. We loved using the camper: it was confortable and easily accommodated our family of 5 (including two teenagers!). It was a wonderful way to explore the Basque Country and we would definitely be up for doing it again.
Tuvimos una gran semana con la furgo, yo y dos hijos adultos. El dueño Samu fue de mucha ayuda por mensajes de texto para extra preguntas mientras estuvimos fuera, y nos llevó a la estación después de devolver la furgo
We had a lovely trip. The van has absolutely everything you need, and Pedro and Davids were so helpful and kind. Would recommend this van!
