Zeeland is the only Dutch province made up almost entirely of islands and peninsulas, with over 650 kilometres of coastline stretching along the North Sea and the Western Scheldt estuary. This makes it one of the most rewarding regions in the Netherlands to explore by road, with water views around nearly every bend. The province's iconic Delta Works — a network of dams, sluices and storm surge barriers — ranks among the largest hydraulic engineering projects ever built and is well worth a stop at the Neeltje Jans visitor centre on the Oosterscheldekering. From the lively seaside town of Domburg on Walcheren to the historic fortified town of Veere, just 7 km to the east, Zeeland packs a remarkable amount of variety into a compact area. The drive from Middelburg, the provincial capital, south to Sluis near the Belgian border covers roughly 55 km, while heading north-east from Zierikzee to the Grevelingendam is about 30 km — distances that suit a relaxed touring pace in a campervan or motorhome. Flat, well-maintained roads and generous cycle paths running alongside them make navigation straightforward, even in larger vehicles. Sandy beaches, mussel harbours and nature reserves such as the Zwin on the Flemish border give you a fresh destination each day. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan directly from local owners across Zeeland, choosing from a range of vehicles that match your group size and travel style — a flexible, peer-to-peer way to discover this water-shaped province.
Zeeland's coastal climate means mild summers and crisp winters, and each season has its appeal. May to September is the most popular window, when beach towns like Renesse and Domburg are in full swing and campsites across the islands open all their pitches. For something special, time your trip around the Zeeland Nazomerfestival in late August and September, a performing-arts festival held in unusual locations across the province. Booking a campervan through Yescapa outside peak July and August often means lower hire rates thanks to flexible peer-to-peer pricing, and you will find quieter roads and easier parking at coastal spots. Spring is ideal for cycling the dyke-top paths, while autumn brings the famous Zeeland mussel season — reason enough to visit.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
This 120 km loop takes you around the Walcheren peninsula, linking Middelburg, Domburg and Vlissingen. Allow 3–6 days to enjoy Zeeland's beaches, the maritime museum in Vlissingen and the charming streets of Veere. Flat roads suit any campervan perfectly.
A compact 90 km route across Schouwen-Duiveland, from Zierikzee's medieval harbour to the wide sands at Renesse. Over 3–5 days you can explore Zeeland's dunes at Westerschouwen and spot seals near the Brouwersdam. Ideal for a short motorhome break.
Covering 250 km over 5–8 days, this route follows Zeeland's famous storm-surge barriers. Visit Neeltje Jans, cross the Oosterscheldekering and continue to the Grevelingendam. Campsites with motorhome service points are plentiful along the way.
Head south through the Westerscheldetunnel on this 300 km, 5–8 day tour of Zeelandic Flanders. Discover the fortified town of Sluis, the beaches at Cadzand and the nature reserve Het Zwin. Zeeland's quieter southern strip is great for a campervan escape.
This 500 km journey over 7–11 days connects every major Zeeland island, from Tholen in the north to Zeelandic Flanders in the south. Stop at Yerseke for mussels and Goes for its weekly market. A motorhome gives you the space to travel at your own pace.
Stretch your trip to 550 km over 8–15 days by combining Zeeland with the South Holland islands of Goeree-Overflakkee and Voorne-Putten. Cross the Haringvlietdam and explore Ouddorp's beaches before looping back through Zierikzee. Perfect for a longer campervan adventure.

Zeeland offers a wide choice of campsites spread across its islands and peninsulas, from beachfront parks with direct dune access to quieter inland spots beside the Oosterschelde. Most sites provide dedicated motorhome pitches with electricity hook-ups, fresh-water points and waste-disposal facilities, while many also welcome campervans on standard touring pitches. Whether you prefer a family-friendly park with a swimming pool or a simpler nature campsite, Zeeland has you covered.
Zeeland's roads are toll-free, including the Westerscheldetunnel connecting Zuid-Beveland to Zeelandic Flanders — though this tunnel does charge a fee of around €5 per single crossing for motorhomes. The province is served by the A58 and N57, both well-suited to larger vehicles. Speed limits on Dutch motorways are generally 100 km/h during the day for all vehicles, while motorhomes over 3,500 kg are limited to 80 km/h on regional roads. Zeeland's routes are flat and well-signposted, with regular rest areas and service points along the main corridors. Keep in mind that some older village centres have narrow streets, so plan your route through larger roads when driving a bigger motorhome.
First let me say that Ricardo is a great owner, he was very good at explaining everything to us, gave advice on the trip and was always available to answer any questions we had. He even was understanding of our delayed return. 5/5 The van is as described in the ad, working perfectely, comfortable to drive worh all the amenities one would need in a van. We traveled all around portugal and overall enjoyed our time bery much. Definitely recommend.
Absolutely loved staying in Alfreds campervan. The decor was beautiful. It had everything we needed, a perfect space for two people for time in nature travelling. It was so good having a fridge on the road. He answered any questions I had and the pick up/ drop off was great. Would definitely love to rent it again in the future when we come back to Spain. Thank you!
Patrick was very friendly and went above and beyond his duty to make sure everything went smoothly. He even took us to the station after we dropped the van off. We would highly recommend him.
Foi tudo ótimo! Desde a efetivação do aluguer até ao momento da devolução e ainda depois.
Communication with Guillaume the owner was excellent. Always available to answer questions and give advice about travel destinations. The campervan was a perfect size for our first experience of this type of holiday. We used sites for our 7 night travel experience which worked well with electric/topping up water etc. Overall a great experience and would use this owner again.
Everything went smooth during the whole pick up and return process. The van has seen some life but everything was clean and in great working condition + the price was very competitive when comparing to anything else available at the time. Very enjoyable trip with the van, highly recommended
