Holland's 26-mile-long Afsluitdijk causeway, completed in 1932, transformed the former Zuiderzee into the IJsselmeer freshwater lake and remains one of Europe's most remarkable feats of hydraulic engineering — and a truly unique drive. From the flower fields of Lisse, home to the world-famous Keukenhof Gardens, to the historic canal-lined streets of Amsterdam and the traditional windmills of Kinderdijk, Holland packs an extraordinary variety of landscapes into a compact area. The distance from Amsterdam to Rotterdam is just 80 km, while The Hague to Utrecht covers roughly 65 km, making it easy to explore multiple cities in a single trip. Flat terrain and well-maintained roads make Holland ideal for both campervans and motorhomes, with dedicated service points and aires spread across the region. Coastal dunes along the North Sea give way to polders, lakes and green pastures further inland, offering a constantly changing backdrop. Cheese markets in Alkmaar and Gouda add cultural flavour to any itinerary, while the Frisian Lakes in the north provide a quieter, more rural setting. With Yescapa, you hire directly from local owners based throughout Holland, giving you a wide choice of vehicles — from compact campervans perfect for couples to spacious motorhomes for families — all at peer-to-peer prices that suit every budget.
Holland is at its most colourful from mid-April to mid-May, when the tulip fields burst into bloom and King's Day on 27 April fills every town with orange-clad celebrations. Summer, from June to August, brings long daylight hours and the best conditions for cycling and coastal stops, with campsites across Holland fully open and well-equipped. Shoulder months like September and early October offer quieter roads and pleasant temperatures for a campervan trip. Yescapa's peer-to-peer model means you can often find competitive hire prices outside peak season, and booking a few weeks ahead gives you the widest choice of motorhomes and campervans from local owners across Holland.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.

Holland offers a wide range of campsites suited to every style of trip, from coastal dune parks along the North Sea to peaceful lakeside spots in Friesland. Most sites provide dedicated motorhome pitches with electric hook-ups, fresh water, and grey-water disposal, while many also welcome campervans on standard touring pitches. Whether you prefer the wooded Veluwe interior or a beachside location, you will find well-maintained facilities spread right across Holland.
Holland's motorways (snelwegen) are toll-free, so you can travel freely without vignettes or road charges. The standard speed limit on motorways is 100 km/h during the day (06:00–19:00) and 120 or 130 km/h at night, though motorhomes over 3,500 kg are limited to 80 km/h on all roads and 90 km/h on motorways. Signage is clear and in Dutch, with frequent service areas offering fuel, water and waste disposal. Be aware that some city centres have low-emission zones (milieuzone) restricting older diesel vehicles — check your vehicle's emission class before entering Rotterdam, Amsterdam or Utrecht.
Patricia and Jorge were great, waiting at the airport when we arived and waiting 30mins at the return when we took a wrong turn. Helpful and friendly. Signed off the return easily and quickly. The van has character and plenty of Km but it was in perfect running order. I'd have no problem hiring from them again.
Frederick was lovely and the van was super. A lot of storage for a van plus a screen that separates the toilet from the shower which is much less of a mess. Big fridge and good cooking area and sink. The water pressure is very good so when you shower you get a really good pressure, having said that prepare to top up your water tank frequently. Lovely trip and a really well equipped and user friendly van layout would rent again!
Amazing experience! Jeremie has been so kind and helpful. The van is ideal, everything you need is there. Everything was smooth and easy. We will do the same again soon!
