The campervan is the ultimate all-rounder. Effortlessly practical and built for freedom, it’s just as at home navigating tight city streets as it is exploring the heart of the countryside.
The United Kingdom packs over 19,000 miles of coastline into an island nation where no point sits more than 70 miles from the sea. From the granite tors of Dartmoor to the chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters, the landscape shifts dramatically within short distances — making it ideal for road trips. Head north from London and within 260 miles you reach the Lake District, home to Scafell Pike, England's highest peak at 978 metres. Continue another 280 miles and you arrive at the Scottish Highlands, where Loch Ness stretches 37 kilometres through the Great Glen. In Wales, Snowdonia National Park offers mountain passes and coastal views, while the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland draws visitors to its 40,000 interlocking basalt columns. The UK's road network connects compact cities and remote countryside alike, with well-maintained A-roads and motorways suited to both campervans and larger motorhomes. Single-track roads in Scotland and narrow lanes in Cornwall add character to any journey, though they reward those who travel at a relaxed pace. With Yescapa, you hire directly from local owners spread right across the UK — from the south coast of England to the Scottish Highlands — giving you a wide choice of campervans and motorhomes to match your route, your group size, and your budget.
The UK's touring season runs from April to October, with the longest daylight hours falling between May and July — perfect for making the most of each driving day. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe fills August with performances across the Scottish capital, while the Hay Festival in late May turns the Welsh borders into a literary gathering. Spring and autumn offer quieter roads and easier campsite availability, especially in popular areas like the Lake District and Cornwall. With Yescapa's peer-to-peer model, you often find more competitive pricing outside peak summer months, and booking a campervan early for July or August helps you secure the best choice of vehicles.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
This 250 km loop traces the Cornish coastline from Newquay to St Ives and down to Penzance. Allow 3–6 days to explore fishing villages, surf beaches, and the Minack Theatre. Campervan-friendly roads wind along the coast with plenty of small sites to stop overnight.
Covering 280 km through England's Lake District, this route links Windermere, Keswick, and Ullswater. Over 3–6 days you pass stone-built villages and mountain passes. Compact campervans handle the narrower roads well, with lakeside campsites dotted throughout.
A 400 km journey across Wales from Brecon Beacons to the Snowdonia coastline, taking in Hay-on-Wye and Harlech Castle. Plan 5–8 days to enjoy mountain scenery and coastal stops. Motorhomes and campervans are both well catered for at Welsh touring parks.
This 450 km circuit connects Edinburgh, Stirling, and Glasgow before heading south through the Borders. Over 5–8 days you visit castles, abbeys, and rolling farmland. Well-maintained A-roads make this route comfortable for motorhomes of all sizes.
Scotland's famous 800 km route loops from Inverness along the northern coastline through Durness and John o' Groats. Allow 7–11 days for remote beaches and Highland scenery. Single-track roads suit campervans best — take your time at passing places.
Spanning 900 km from Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands, this route crosses England through Bath and the Peak District before heading north. Over 10–15 days you experience the full variety of UK landscapes. A mix of motorways and A-roads suits both campervans and motorhomes.

The UK offers a wide range of campsites, from clifftop pitches overlooking the Atlantic to sheltered woodland spots in national parks. Most touring sites provide electric hook-ups, drinking water, shower blocks, and waste disposal points suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. You will find sites spread right across the UK — along the Cornish coast, through the Welsh valleys, beside the English lakes, and into the Scottish Highlands — so there is always somewhere to stop wherever your route takes you.
The UK has no toll charges on most motorways, though a few exceptions apply — the M6 Toll in the West Midlands and the Dartford Crossing south of London both require payment, which you can settle online. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3.05 tonnes are 60 mph on motorways, 50 mph on single carriageways, and 30 mph in built-up areas. Motorway service stations appear regularly and most offer dedicated parking bays for larger vehicles. In Scotland, many rural roads are single-track with passing places — drive patiently and pull in to let oncoming traffic through.
Beyond happy with the whole experience. The motorhome was very comfy and had everything we needed for our little girls camping trip. More importantly the owners were extremely friendly and beyond helpful at all times with the vehicle, the routes, the airport pickups and dropp offs and many many more things! All and all very happy with this experience!
The experience was seemles from start to finish. Handover was very straightforward with all the major information required exchanged. Fabian the owner remained available during the trip for any issues that may arise. The vehicle was as advertised and in very good condition. Very nice camping caravan, equipped with everything that you could need. The return process was straightforward when returning vehicle. Also my car was kept securley stored at the location for arrival and drop off. Overall very good experience and i would highly recommend and use again in the future.
We really enjoyed our travels around Brittany in Clarisse's camper van. It was comfortable and easy to drive and had everything we needed for our holiday. Clarisse explained everything clearly to us before we set off.
A really positive experience from start to finish.
