Why hire a campervan or motorhome in Worcestershire

Worcestershire — a region worth exploring

Worcestershire's cathedral city of Worcester sits on the River Severn, home to the oldest cricket ground in the world — New Road, where matches have been played since 1899. The county stretches from the Malvern Hills in the west, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to the fertile Vale of Evesham in the east, one of England's most productive fruit-growing regions. From Worcester to Great Malvern is just 14 km, yet the landscape shifts dramatically from riverside meadows to granite ridges rising over 400 metres. Head north-east and you reach Droitwich Spa, famous for its natural brine baths, while a 40 km drive south-east brings you to Broadway, a golden-stone village on the edge of the Cotswolds. The Severn Valley Railway runs heritage steam trains between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth, offering a scenic route through the county's wooded river valleys. Worcestershire's compact size and well-connected road network make it ideal for exploring by campervan or motorhome — you can reach the Malvern Hills, the Severn Valley, and the Vale of Evesham all within a single day's drive. With Yescapa, you hire directly from local owners across Worcestershire, choosing from a range of campervans and motorhomes that suit your group size and travel style. It is a practical, flexible way to discover a county where orchards, rivers, and rolling hills sit side by side.

Best time to visit

Worcestershire comes alive from May to September, when the Vale of Evesham's orchards are in full bloom or heavy with fruit. The Three Counties Show takes place each June at the Malvern Showground, celebrating rural life with livestock, food, and craft displays. Autumn brings the Worcester Festival in August and September, filling the city with music and performance. Campsites across Worcestershire are open year-round, though summer offers the widest choice of pitches. Booking a campervan through Yescapa during spring or early autumn often means lower hire costs compared to peak summer, thanks to flexible peer-to-peer pricing set by individual owners.

The best road trips in Worcestershire

To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.

The Malvern Hills Circuit

80 km 3–5 days

Starting in Great Malvern, this 80 km loop takes you along the ridge of the Malvern Hills before dropping into Ledbury and looping back via Upton upon Severn. Allow three to four days to walk the hilltops and explore the towns. A campervan is ideal for the narrow lanes around the hills.

The Vale of Evesham Orchard Trail

65 km 3–6 days

This 65 km route winds through Worcestershire's fruit-growing heartland, from Pershore to Evesham and on to Broadway. Stop at farm shops and pick-your-own orchards along the way. Spring blossom season makes this a particularly rewarding campervan trip through gentle, flat countryside.

The Severn Valley Explorer

150 km 5–8 days

Follow the River Severn for 150 km from Stourport-on-Severn south through Worcester to Tewkesbury, then return via Pershore. Take in the Severn Valley Railway at Kidderminster and Worcester Cathedral. A motorhome gives you space to linger at riverside campsites along the way.

Worcestershire and Cotswolds Loop

180 km 5–8 days

This 180 km route links Worcestershire with the northern Cotswolds, passing through Evesham, Broadway, Chipping Campden, and Moreton-in-Marsh before returning via Stratford-upon-Avon. Expect rolling hills and golden-stone villages. Campervan-friendly campsites are plentiful along this route.

The West Midlands Heritage Route

250 km 7–11 days

Covering 250 km, this Worcestershire-based loop heads north to Kidderminster and Bewdley, east to Bromsgrove and Redditch, then south through Droitwich Spa and Worcester. Visit the Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings and the Jinney Ring Craft Centre. A motorhome suits the well-surfaced A-roads.

The Three Counties Grand Tour

300 km 8–15 days

This 300 km route explores Worcestershire, Herefordshire, and Gloucestershire in one extended trip. From Worcester, head west to Hereford, south to Ross-on-Wye, east to Gloucester, and back via Tewkesbury and the Malvern Hills. Campsites with full hook-ups for campervans and motorhomes are easy to find.

What you need to know about roads and motorways in Worcestershire

Worcestershire is well served by the M5 motorway, which runs north–south through the county connecting Worcester to Birmingham and Bristol. The M50 branches west towards Ross-on-Wye and South Wales. There are no toll roads within Worcestershire itself, though the M6 Toll lies just to the north. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are 60 mph on dual carriageways and 70 mph on motorways, matching standard limits, but 50 mph on single carriageways. Many rural lanes around the Malvern Hills and Vale of Evesham are narrow, so a campervan may be more practical than a larger motorhome on these routes.

We had an amazing trip! Rafaela and Carina were so kind, and we couldn’t recommend their van enough 🤩🙏🏼 The van had everything we needed for a proper “van life” experience, and you can also stay at campsites whenever you want!

We hired a motorhome from Cemil for a week to travel around Switzerland. We also visited France, Germany and Liechtenstein. Before the trip Cemil was helpful and responded to questions promptly. On the day of pick up he met us at the train station and the handover was smooth and quick. At the end if the trip it was also a very smooth transition and Cemil kindly drove us back to the airport. The van was great - very easy to drive and everything worked perfectly. All tolls and insurance were covered. We were very happy with the motorhome and would highly recommend renting from Cemil.

We had a great experience hiring this motorhome. Everything went smoothly and we had absolutely zero issues throughout our trip. Fernando kept us informed about everything from the beginning and was very friendly and helpful. He was also very flexible with both the pickup and drop-off times, which made everything much easier. The location is perfect, especially if you're arriving via Prague Airport. We travelled all the way to Hungary and back to Poland, staying at several off-grid locations along the way. We had an amazing time at Lake Balaton in Hungary and also loved our stay at the Pod Opaleńcem campsite in Świeradów-Zdrój, Poland. We would definitely recommend this motorhome hire and would happily rent from Fernando again!
