Warwickshire is home to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare in 1564, making it one of the most visited literary destinations in the world. The county stretches across central England, blending rolling countryside with historic market towns and impressive castles. Warwick Castle, founded by William the Conqueror in 1068, sits on the banks of the River Avon and draws visitors year-round. From Stratford-upon-Avon to Kenilworth is roughly 13 miles, while the drive from Royal Leamington Spa to the charming town of Alcester covers about 22 miles — both easy distances to enjoy at a relaxed pace. The Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty reaches into the south of the county, offering gentle hills and honey-coloured stone villages ideal for exploring by road. Baddesley Clinton, a moated medieval manor house managed by the National Trust, and the Arbury Hall estate add further depth to Warwickshire's heritage. The county's network of quiet B-roads and well-maintained A-roads makes it particularly well suited to campervan and motorhome travel, with plenty of space to pull over and take in the scenery. Through Yescapa, you can hire a campervan or motorhome directly from local owners across Warwickshire, choosing from a range of vehicles to match your group size and travel style. It is a flexible, community-driven way to discover this rewarding part of England.
Warwickshire is wonderful from late spring through to autumn. The Stratford-upon-Avon Literary Festival in May brings talks and events across the town, while the Warwick Folk Festival each July fills the streets with live music and dance. Summer months offer the longest days for exploring the countryside, and campsites across Warwickshire tend to be well stocked with availability if you book a few weeks ahead. Shoulder months like September and October bring quieter roads and golden landscapes. With Yescapa, you can often find better rates on campervan hire outside peak summer, as private owners set their own prices throughout the year.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
Start in Stratford-upon-Avon and loop through Warwickshire's literary heartland over roughly 80 km. Visit Anne Hathaway's Cottage, pause in Shottery, then head to Charlecote Park before returning via Wellesbourne. Quiet lanes suit campervans perfectly, with several small campsites along the way.
This 95 km route links Warwick Castle with Royal Leamington Spa and Kenilworth Castle. Explore the grand ruins at Kenilworth, enjoy Leamington's Regency architecture, and end with an evening beside the Avon in Warwick. Ideal for a motorhome trip with families.
Cover around 180 km from Stratford-upon-Avon south through Shipston-on-Stour and into the Cotswolds fringe at Chipping Campden. Return via Alcester and Henley-in-Arden. Rolling hills and narrow lanes reward a slower pace in a campervan, with farm campsites dotted throughout.
A 250 km loop from Warwick through Coventry, Nuneaton, and Atherstone before curving back via Coleshill and Solihull's countryside edge. This route mixes Warwickshire's urban heritage — including Coventry Cathedral — with peaceful canal-side stops suited to both campervans and motorhomes.
Follow the River Avon for 320 km across Warwickshire and into neighbouring counties. Begin at Rugby, pass through Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon, then continue to Evesham and Tewkesbury before looping back. Riverside campsites offer hook-ups and scenic pitches for motorhomes.
This comprehensive 400 km route covers the full breadth of Warwickshire. Start in Rugby, visit Arbury Hall near Nuneaton, cross to Baddesley Clinton, then south through Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Shipston-on-Stour. A campervan gives you the freedom to linger at each stop along the way.

Warwickshire offers a good spread of campsites, from farm-based pitches in the rural south to well-equipped parks near the county's main towns. Many sites provide electric hook-ups, hardstanding pitches, and modern shower blocks suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. Whether you want to be within walking distance of Stratford-upon-Avon's theatres or tucked away in the countryside near Kenilworth, you will find a site to suit your plans.
Warwickshire sits at the heart of England's motorway network, with the M40 running through the county and the M6, M42, and M45 all within easy reach. None of these motorways charge tolls, though the nearby M6 Toll road in neighbouring Staffordshire does accept payment by card or cash. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3.05 tonnes are 60 mph on motorways and 50 mph on single carriageway roads. Rest areas and service stations are well spaced along the M40, and the county's A-roads — including the A46 and A429 — are generally wide enough for larger vehicles to navigate comfortably.
This was our first experience hiring a van and it was very good. Patrick was super helpful and friendly. We experienced some problems with the battery but Patrick was very responsive and helpful trying to solve this. The van has everything you need, although a cradle for your phone would be useful if using for directions as there is no satnav. The bed was surprisingly spacious and very comfy- we slept very well considering the 40 degree heat wave! We would recommend this van to you. Thank you Patrick!
First time ever in a camper van abroad, have to say Diego was a great guy, helpful before our visit, during and made sure everything was smooth sailing/camping, thanks for ramming my sons first camping trip a succcess! R
Lovely campervan with everything you need, friendly owner and easy handover. The only down side was the security deposit process was difficult, as money was being transferred from a UK account to a French one. This was not instant on either transaction and unfortunately we ended up £58 down on our return due to exchange rates. I think using a deposit holding company would be a better option for both parties.
Our trip was truly amazing! The campervan had everything we needed and our host was super kind and helpful :)
Stefano was great I added the airport shuttle option and he was on time and friendly - the van was great i took it up to the Dolomites and it was small enough for all the roads and carparks and the perfect compact van with everything you'd need. It was warm enough and comfortable and useful. Great experience!
Nil and his partner were second time renters now in July 2026, back then Nov 2024. It was great having them again and I only have positive things to say about them :)! They left the van in impeccable condition, each time. They are flexible with timing or if there is any issue. They communicate well. I'm super happy to rent to them again and if any other renter reads this, don't hesitate at all!
