Poitiers sits at the confluence of the Boivre and Clain rivers, with over 80 listed historic monuments packed into its compact hilltop centre — one of the highest concentrations in France. The city's Église Notre-Dame la Grande is famous for its intricately carved Romanesque façade dating from the 12th century, a masterpiece you can admire up close on foot before heading back to your vehicle. History enthusiasts will enjoy the Palais des Ducs d'Aquitaine, once the seat of Eleanor of Aquitaine's court, while families flock to Futuroscope, the multimedia theme park just 12 km north. The Musée Sainte-Croix houses archaeological and fine-art collections spanning prehistory to the modern era, and the Baptistère Saint-Jean, one of the oldest Christian buildings in Europe, is well worth a visit. Limoges lies roughly 120 km to the south-east, and Tours is about 100 km to the north-east, making Poitiers an ideal base for exploring the Loire Valley and beyond by campervan. The surrounding Vienne département offers gentle countryside roads that suit motorhomes of all sizes, with plenty of space to pull over and enjoy the views. With Yescapa, you hire directly from local owners in and around Poitiers, which means flexible pick-up points, personal tips on the best routes, and competitive pricing through our peer-to-peer platform. Whether you are planning a weekend escape or a longer campervan adventure, Poitiers gives you a brilliant starting point.
Poitiers is wonderful from late spring through to early autumn. The Grand Poitiers festival season kicks off with the Fêtes de la Madeleine in July, bringing funfairs, concerts, and street entertainment to the city centre. September sees the Journées du Patrimoine, when many private historic buildings open their doors for free. Summer is the busiest period for campervan travel, so booking your vehicle on Yescapa early lets you lock in the best peer-to-peer rates from local owners. Poitiers enjoys a mild Atlantic-influenced climate, and the quieter months of May and June are ideal for exploring nearby Futuroscope and the Vienne valley without the crowds.

It was a pleasure dealimg with Alain. The Motorhome was in good condition and Alain was very helpful at pick up and drop off ensuring we knew how everything worked.
We had a great time in the motorhome. Jean Pierre was very friendly and professional. We were shown how everything works before setting off. We would definitely recommend hiring this vehicle. Jean Pierre only speaks French but with the aid of a translator app and his son it worked out absolutely fine. Thanks again Jean-Pierre.
Frederic was excellent. Easy to contact and helpful at all times. The whole experience was a joy.
Fantastic, we were welcomed and everything was fantastic.
We hired this camper Asier for our family holiday through Spain and France, what a great van it is with everything you need. Asier is very friendly and helpful even though there was a language barrier. We would definitely use again if we needed to.
Mario was very helpful and supported us with this new experience. The vehicle was basically brand new and while there were some minor problems with cupboard doors, it was a very well equipped and comfortable van for 2 adults and two children of 10 and 13 years old. Highly recommended!
