Bordeaux's Cité du Vin, a landmark wine museum shaped like a swirling decanter, welcomed over 400,000 visitors in its opening year and remains one of France's most distinctive cultural attractions. Set along the Garonne River in south-west France, Bordeaux blends 18th-century limestone architecture with a lively food and wine scene that earned the entire city centre UNESCO World Heritage status in 2007. Stroll across the Pont de Pierre, the city's oldest bridge with its 17 arches, then wander through the Place de la Bourse to see the famous Miroir d'Eau reflecting pool. The Basilique Saint-Michel, with its freestanding 114-metre bell tower, offers panoramic views across the rooftops. Beyond the city, the Atlantic coast at Lacanau is just 55 km west, while the medieval wine town of Saint-Émilion sits only 40 km to the east — both are easy day trips by road. The flat terrain along the Garonne and well-maintained dual carriageways make driving a motorhome around the region straightforward, even for first-timers. With Yescapa, you hire a campervan directly from local owners in and around Bordeaux, which means you can collect your vehicle close to where you want to start exploring. Peer-to-peer hire also gives you a wider choice of campervans and layouts, so you can match the vehicle to your trip rather than the other way round.
Bordeaux is a rewarding destination in every season. June to September brings warm, dry days ideal for exploring vineyards and the Atlantic beaches by campervan. The Bordeaux Wine Festival, held every other June along the quays, is a highlight worth planning around. In autumn, the grape harvest season fills Saint-Émilion and the Médoc with energy and colour. Book your Yescapa motorhome early for summer, as it is the most popular period for hire. Spring and winter offer quieter roads and easier campsite availability around Bordeaux, plus lower peer-to-peer prices through Yescapa.

The Bordeaux region offers a fine mix of campsites, from lakeside retreats on the city fringe to Atlantic-coast sites with direct beach access. Most provide spacious pitches with electrical hook-ups, water points, and service areas suited to both campervans and motorhomes. If you prefer a quieter setting, the pine-shaded sites around the Arcachon basin and the vineyard countryside near Saint-Émilion are within easy reach of Bordeaux.
Bordeaux has several dedicated motorhome parking areas and park-and-ride facilities that welcome larger vehicles. Overnight stays in a campervan are permitted at the designated aire near Bordeaux Lac, which includes service facilities. In the city centre, height barriers restrict most on-street car parks, so plan to use the relay car parks on the tramway network and ride in. Always check signage for vehicle height and length limits before parking.
It's the second time I've hired from Ruben and I hope not the last. He is very honest and explains everything clearly. His RV is lovely to drive and has everything you need. If you're looking for an RV, go with Ruben!
Overall experience was great! Host was very responsive and proactive and provided support before and throughout our trip. The van has everything you need to enjoy a nice camping experience.
Martine was a wonderful host and took us through the many features and inventory with kindness and good humour. She made great efforts to help overcome our language barrier, for which we were very grateful. The motor home was in excellent condition and very well appointed. The electric self lowering bed was very comfortable and retracted to the roof freeing up valuable space for the living quarters. The Fiat vehicle controls were easy to handle and once we got used to the size was no trouble motoring around the Loire. The vehicle was very reliable and well maintained. Martine was quick to reply to a water heating issue we had and resolved our query with easy to follow instructions. Overall, we were very satisfied with our 8 day rental and would not hesitate to recommend this motor home for future rentals.
We had a great honeymoon to the Dolomites in the GreyPanther! Thomas was very thorough with his introduction to the van, communication and I would highy recommend!
