Croydon's Tramlink network, opened in 2000, was the first new tram system built in the UK for over a century, connecting this south London borough to Wimbledon and Beckenham. The town centre is home to Croydon Clocktower, a cultural complex housing the Museum of Croydon and the David Lean Cinema, named after the Oscar-winning director born here. Wandering through Croydon Minster, a Grade I listed medieval church dating back to the Saxon era, gives you a real sense of the area's deep history. For green space, Addington Hills offers panoramic views across London, while Lloyd Park provides a peaceful retreat alongside the Shirley Windmill, one of few surviving windmills in the capital. Brighton sits just 68 km to the south, making it an easy day trip, and the rolling countryside of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty begins roughly 20 km to the south-west. Croydon's position on the southern edge of London means you can explore both the capital and the countryside without battling congested central streets — ideal if you are travelling in a larger vehicle. With Yescapa, you can hire a campervan or motorhome directly from local owners across the Croydon area, giving you a flexible and personal way to start your adventure. Whether you are heading to the coast or deeper into the English countryside, picking up from a local owner here puts you within easy reach of the M25 and M23 motorways.
Croydon comes alive in summer, when the Croydon Food Festival fills the streets each July with local producers and live music. September brings the Croydon Heritage Festival, offering guided walks and open-door events at historic buildings you would not normally see inside. If you are planning to hire a campervan, late spring through early autumn gives you the longest daylight hours for driving and the best conditions for overnight stays at nearby campsites in Surrey and Sussex. Booking through Yescapa outside peak school holiday weeks can help you find better rates from local owners, so consider June or September for a quieter, more affordable trip from Croydon.

Croydon itself is an urban borough, so you will find the best campervan and motorhome sites in the surrounding Surrey and Kent countryside. Many offer electric hook-ups, modern shower blocks, and spacious hardstanding pitches suitable for larger vehicles. Several are within a short drive of the town centre, giving you easy access to both London and the green belt.
Parking a larger vehicle in Croydon requires a bit of planning, as many town centre car parks have height barriers. Several options on the outskirts accommodate motorhomes and campervans. Overnight parking on public roads is generally permitted unless restricted by local signage, but always check for time-limited bays and residents-only zones before settling in.
great van a few interior problems but apart from that all good
check in took 1.40 hr! legible dirty outside with tape repairs to window and mirror paid for gas but when we got there found canister was empty and we had to replace ourselves
Everything was amazing
Great experience renting the Jimny. The owners were brilliant to deal with from start to finish, and the Jeep was in excellent condition. It was perfect for exploring the Algarve. Would definitely recommend and would happily rent from them again!
Clean, well-maintained vehicle that gave us so many great memories! We traveled to many places and drove around 900 km ourselves, and it handled everything flawlessly. Thanks to its size, parking was super easy, we could fit anywhere, and we were able to sleep in spots where a different kind of campervan wouldn't have worked. It is fully equipped with everything provided, even extra games for beach days! The bed and bedding were clean, and it has a really comfortable mattress. The owners were super nice and sweet. Everything went smoothly during both pickup and drop-off, and they were always there to help whenever we needed it, even when we got a bit lost! 😅 Plus point that they were super cool and easy to talk to. P.S. The AC works like a charm!
Sergey's van is great. Really spacious, easy to drive. We had a great trip. Sergey was really nice helpful and was on hand to help with any questions during the trip. He even gave us a lift to the train station in Ljubljana! Would 100% recommend.
