Bromley's historic Market Square has hosted traders since a charter was granted in 1205, making it one of the oldest market sites in south-east London. Today, the town blends that heritage with leafy suburban charm and easy access to the Kent countryside. You can explore the Charles Darwin connection at Down House, where the naturalist lived and wrote On the Origin of Species, just 8 km to the south-east. The Bromley Little Theatre, one of London's longest-running amateur theatres, sits in the town centre alongside the Churchill Theatre, which stages professional touring productions year-round. Crystal Palace Park, with its famous Victorian dinosaur sculptures, lies only 7 km to the north-west, while the rolling North Downs begin barely 15 km south. For green space closer to hand, Kelsey Park offers lakeside walks and a resident heron colony right in the heart of Bromley. The A21 and A232 provide straightforward routes in and out, and the M25 is roughly 10 km east, so you can head into the Kent Weald or towards the coast without fuss. Hiring a campervan through Yescapa means you can collect your vehicle from a local owner in the Bromley area, skip the depot queues, and set off on your own schedule. A motorhome gives you the freedom to combine a day in town with overnight stops in the surrounding countryside, all without needing to book hotels along the way.
Bromley comes alive in summer, when the Bromley Festival of Music fills parks and venues across the borough each July. Late spring and early autumn are ideal for campervan touring, with quieter roads through Kent and comfortable temperatures for overnight stays. If you visit in November, the Bromley Christmas Market transforms the High Street into a festive destination worth a stop. Booking your hire through Yescapa during shoulder months often means better availability and more competitive peer-to-peer pricing from local owners in the Bromley area. Plan ahead for school holidays if you need a motorhome with extra berths.
Bromley is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Head 45 km south-east from Bromley into the heart of the Kent Weald. Stop at Knole House, a vast deer park and National Trust estate, then visit Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve. Campervan parking is straightforward at the Vine Cricket Ground car park, and the narrow lanes around Ide Hill reward a slow drive.
Drive 65 km south from Bromley to reach Royal Tunbridge Wells and its famous Pantiles promenade. Detour through Penshurst Place, a medieval manor with formal gardens. Motorhome-friendly parking is available at the town's Meadow Road car park, and Bewl Water reservoir nearby offers waterside pitches.
Cover 110 km south-east from Bromley to Canterbury, following the A2 past Faversham and its creek-side heritage quarter. Canterbury Cathedral and the Westgate Towers are essential stops. Several campervan sites sit just outside the city walls, and the route passes hop gardens and oast houses worth a photo.
Travel 140 km south-west from Bromley through the Surrey Hills AONB to Brighton's seafront. Pause at Box Hill for panoramic views, then continue via Lewes and its castle. Brighton Marina has motorhome parking, and the South Downs offer overnight spots with easy access to the coast.
Set out 210 km south-west from Bromley towards the New Forest, passing Winchester and its Great Hall. Free-roaming ponies greet you on arrival. Hollands Wood and Setthorns are popular campervan sites with electric hook-ups, and the forest's network of gravel tracks suits leisurely cycling days.
From Bromley, drive 280 km south-west to Dorset's Jurassic Coast. Stop at Salisbury to see the cathedral spire, then continue to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Campervan pitches at Durdle Door Holiday Park sit right on the clifftop, and the coastal path connects a string of fossil-rich beaches.

The Bromley area sits on the edge of the Kent countryside, so you will find a good selection of campsites within a short drive. Most offer hardstanding pitches with electric hook-ups suitable for both campervans and motorhomes, along with modern toilet and shower blocks. Several sites cater to families with play areas and on-site shops, while quieter adults-only options are available further into the North Downs. Booking ahead is wise during school holidays.
Bromley town centre has several pay-and-display car parks, though height barriers can restrict motorhome access. Always check maximum vehicle heights before entering multi-storey facilities. Overnight parking on public roads is generally permitted unless signage states otherwise, but residential streets may have time-limited bays. For larger vehicles, look for surface-level car parks or dedicated motorhome stopovers on the outskirts.
We went for a 7 days trip with 2 of my friends. It was an amazing time. Camper was really great - in a good condition, clean, comfortable. We did 1000km without any problems. I can recommend this car and Alvaro as a very nice owner.
1st time we have hired a Motorhome, Sandrine was a joy to hire from, answered all of our questions as newbies. She couldn't make hiring their MH any easier, Their Motor home was in perfect condition we had the unlimited Km's option and the vehicle never missed a beat over the long distances we drove, Highly recommend Hiring from Sandrine 5 Star !!
