Málaga's Alcazaba fortress has stood watch over the Mediterranean since the 11th century, making it one of the best-preserved Moorish palatial fortifications in Spain. The city centre is wonderfully walkable, with the Museo Picasso Málaga showcasing over 200 works by its most famous son, while the Centre Pompidou Málaga — housed inside a striking multicoloured cube on the waterfront — brings contemporary art to the port district. Stroll through the Atarazanas Market for fresh produce and local flavours, or head up to the Castillo de Gibralfaro for sweeping views across the harbour and coastline. Nature lovers will appreciate the Montes de Málaga Natural Park, just 15 km north of the city, where pine-covered hills offer peaceful walking trails. Granada lies roughly 125 km to the north-east, and the whitewashed hilltop town of Ronda is about 100 km to the west — both make excellent day trips or multi-day excursions. The Costa del Sol coastline stretching either side of Málaga is broad and well-served by motorhome-friendly roads, so getting around in a larger vehicle is straightforward. With Yescapa, you hire a campervan directly from local owners who know the region inside out, giving you personal tips on the best coastal stops and mountain routes. Picking up a campervan right here means you can be on the beach or in the hills within minutes of collecting your keys.
Málaga enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate that makes it a year-round destination. Spring is ideal for exploring on foot and by campervan, with the Semana Santa processions in March or April drawing visitors from across Spain. Summer brings the Feria de Málaga in August — a week-long celebration of music, dance and local food that fills the city with energy. Autumn and winter remain mild and pleasant, with fewer crowds and excellent availability on Yescapa, where peer-to-peer pricing often means lower hire costs outside peak months. Book your motorhome early for July and August, as Málaga is the gateway to the Costa del Sol and demand is high.
Málaga is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Head 55 km east along the coast from Málaga to Nerja, a relaxed trip of 1–3 days. Stop at the Cuevas de Nerja, a spectacular cave system, and enjoy the views from the Balcón de Europa. Campervan parking is available near the seafront, making overnight stays easy.
Drive 100 km west from Málaga into the mountains to reach Ronda, best enjoyed over 2–4 days. Cross the dramatic Puente Nuevo bridge and visit the Plaza de Toros, one of Spain's oldest bullrings. Motorhome pitches are available on the outskirts of town with good access to the centre.
A short 50 km south-west along the coast from Málaga, Marbella is perfect for a 1–3 day escape. Explore the charming Casco Antiguo old town and relax at Playa de Nagüeles. Designated motorhome parking areas near Puerto Banús make it simple to stay overnight.
This 400 km loop west from Málaga takes 5–8 days and covers two of Andalusia's finest cities. Visit the Real Alcázar in Seville and the old quarter of Cádiz with its seafront promenade. Campervan aires along the route offer hook-ups and services between stops.
Head 210 km north-west from Málaga to Córdoba for a 4–7 day journey through Andalusia's heartland. The Mezquita-Catedral is unmissable, and the flower-filled patios of the Judería are a delight. Campervan parking is available close to the historic centre with easy walking access.
Travel 125 km north-east from Málaga to Granada over 3–6 days, passing through olive groves and rolling hills. Explore the Alhambra palace and wander the narrow lanes of the Albaicín quarter. Several campervan-friendly aires sit just outside the city with shuttle links.

The Málaga area offers a good mix of coastal and inland campsites suited to both campervans and motorhomes. Along the Costa del Sol you will find seaside sites with direct beach access, while options further inland provide a quieter countryside setting. Most sites offer electric hook-ups, modern shower and toilet blocks, and dedicated pitches for larger vehicles. Booking ahead is recommended during summer, especially at sites closest to Málaga and the coast.
Málaga has several options for parking larger vehicles, though the narrow streets of the historic centre are best avoided in a motorhome or campervan. Designated areas on the outskirts and near the port offer more space. Overnight parking in public car parks is generally permitted unless signposted otherwise, but always check local signs for height and weight restrictions. Using a dedicated motorhome area ensures access to services such as water and waste disposal.
Had a wonderful trip! With Thibault’s guidance, you're in safe hands. This compact and comfortable van packs a big punch while remaining extremely easy to drive and park. I highly recommend this van and owner combo!
First let me say that Ricardo is a great owner, he was very good at explaining everything to us, gave advice on the trip and was always available to answer any questions we had. He even was understanding of our delayed return. 5/5 The van is as described in the ad, working perfectely, comfortable to drive worh all the amenities one would need in a van. We traveled all around portugal and overall enjoyed our time bery much. Definitely recommend.
Absolutely loved staying in Alfreds campervan. The decor was beautiful. It had everything we needed, a perfect space for two people for time in nature travelling. It was so good having a fridge on the road. He answered any questions I had and the pick up/ drop off was great. Would definitely love to rent it again in the future when we come back to Spain. Thank you!
Patrick was very friendly and went above and beyond his duty to make sure everything went smoothly. He even took us to the station after we dropped the van off. We would highly recommend him.
Foi tudo ótimo! Desde a efetivação do aluguer até ao momento da devolução e ainda depois.
Communication with Guillaume the owner was excellent. Always available to answer questions and give advice about travel destinations. The campervan was a perfect size for our first experience of this type of holiday. We used sites for our 7 night travel experience which worked well with electric/topping up water etc. Overall a great experience and would use this owner again.
