Why hire a campervan or motorhome in Andalusia

Andalusia — a region worth exploring

Andalucía stretches across 87,268 square kilometres of southern Spain, making it the country's largest autonomous community and home to eight distinct provinces. From the snow-dusted peaks of the Sierra Nevada — mainland Spain's highest point at Mulhacén (3,479 metres) — to the golden dunes of Doñana National Park on the Atlantic coast, the landscape shifts dramatically within short distances. Seville to Granada is roughly 250 km, while the coastal run from Málaga to Cádiz covers around 265 km, giving you plenty of variety without marathon driving days. You can wander the courtyards of the Alhambra, stand inside the Mezquita of Córdoba, explore the Roman ruins at Itálica near Seville, or watch flamingos wade through the wetlands of the Odiel Marshes in Huelva. The road network is well suited to larger vehicles, with wide autopistas connecting major cities and quieter secondary roads winding through olive groves and whitewashed villages. Coastal aires and inland campsites are spread generously across all eight provinces, so you are never far from a comfortable overnight stop. With Yescapa, you hire your campervan or motorhome directly from local owners based right here in Andalucía, which means flexible pick-up points, personal tips on the best routes, and competitive pricing through our peer-to-peer platform. Whether you fancy a week along the Costa de la Luz or a fortnight looping through mountain passes, a campervan trip through Andalucía rewards you at every turn.

Best time to visit

Andalucía is a year-round destination for campervan travel. Spring (March to May) brings wildflower-covered meadows and the famous Feria de Abril in Seville, typically held two weeks after Easter. Autumn is equally rewarding, with warm temperatures and the Bienal de Flamenco in Seville (held in even-numbered years, September–October). Summer is the most popular season for coastal routes, so booking your motorhome early on Yescapa gives you the widest choice of vehicles and the best peer-to-peer rates. Winter stays mild along the coast, and the Sierra Nevada ski season runs from late November to April, offering a completely different Andalucía experience.

What you need to know about roads and motorways in Andalusia

Andalucía's main motorways — the AP-7 along the Mediterranean coast and the A-92 crossing inland — are toll-free, which keeps costs down on longer trips. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3,500 kg are 90 km/h on motorways and 80 km/h on conventional roads. Rest areas with parking suitable for larger vehicles appear regularly along major routes. Be aware that some mountain roads in the Alpujarras and Sierra de Grazalema have tight bends and width restrictions, so check your vehicle dimensions before heading into narrow passes. Low-emission zones operate in several city centres, including Seville and Granada; look out for signage and plan your stops accordingly.

We absolutely loved our time in the caddy! Everything was great, from the collection, the functionality and the communication. The van is small but mighty, the owners have thought of every little detail (sink, shower, storage, kitchen, and a good sized comfy bed). We highly recommend using Yescapa and hiring this van- perfect for your dolomites adventure!

Both Jesus and Susana were very communicative and made the rental process very easy. The van is basically new in very good condition and easy to handle. It was fun cooking in remote places having a beautiful view and having a large fridge really helped to keep all cool and fresh. We had a nice time with it and would certainly recommend it to others.
