Lanzarote stretches across 845 square kilometres of volcanic terrain, making it the fourth-largest of the Canary Islands and home to over 300 volcanic cones that shape its extraordinary landscape. The Timanfaya National Park, where eruptions between 1730 and 1736 buried entire villages, remains geothermally active — you can still feel the heat rising just beneath the surface. From the golden sands of Papagayo Beach in the south to the dramatic Famara Cliffs towering 600 metres above the Atlantic in the north, the island packs remarkable variety into a compact space. The drive from Arrecife to the Jameos del Agua lava caves covers just 25 km, while the route from Playa Blanca to the Mirador del Río viewpoint at the island's northern tip is roughly 60 km — distances that make Lanzarote ideal for exploring by campervan. César Manrique's architectural works, including the Fundación César Manrique and the Jardín de Cactus, are woven into the volcanic rock itself, blending art with nature in a way unique to this island. With Yescapa, you can hire a motorhome or campervan directly from local owners across Lanzarote, choosing from a range of vehicles that suit your group size and travel style. The peer-to-peer model means competitive prices and personal recommendations from people who know the island's best routes and quieter corners firsthand.
Lanzarote enjoys mild temperatures year-round, making it a fantastic destination for a campervan trip in any season. Spring brings the island's Ironman Lanzarote event each May, drawing visitors from across Europe, while the Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de los Volcanes in September celebrates the island's volcanic heritage with processions and local festivities. Summer is the busiest period, so booking your Yescapa hire early gives you the widest choice of vehicles and the best rates from private owners. Winter months are wonderfully warm compared to mainland Europe, with daytime temperatures around 20°C — perfect for coastal walks and exploring Lanzarote's national park without the crowds.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
This 80 km route takes you through the heart of Lanzarote's volcanic landscape over 3–5 days. Start in Yaiza, drive through Timanfaya National Park, and continue to El Golfo's green lagoon. Ideal for campervans, with parking areas near key viewpoints along the way.
Cover 60 km along Lanzarote's northern coast in 3–6 days. Visit the Jameos del Agua caves, the Mirador del Río, and the fishing village of Órzola. The roads suit both campervans and motorhomes, with scenic stops overlooking La Graciosa island.
A 120 km loop around Lanzarote over 5–8 days, linking Arrecife, Teguise, Haría, and Playa Blanca. You pass through volcanic plains, traditional whitewashed villages, and coastal stretches. Well-surfaced roads make this route comfortable in a motorhome.
Spanning 350 km across two islands over 5–8 days, take the ferry from Playa Blanca to Corralejo and explore Fuerteventura's vast dunes and Betancuria valley. A campervan gives you the flexibility to hop between islands at your own pace.
This 500 km adventure over 7–11 days connects three Canary Islands by ferry. From Lanzarote's volcanoes to Fuerteventura's beaches and Gran Canaria's Roque Nublo, each island offers a distinct landscape. Plan ferry crossings in advance for your motorhome.
Follow 180 km of Lanzarote's cultural landmarks over 5–8 days. Visit the Fundación César Manrique, Jardín de Cactus, and the Casa-Museo del Campesino near Mozaga. Quiet roads between sites make this a relaxing campervan journey through art and volcanic scenery.

Lanzarote offers a selection of campsites spread across the island, from coastal spots near popular beaches to quieter inland locations. Many sites provide electric hook-ups, fresh water points, and waste disposal facilities suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. Whether you prefer waking up near the surf at Famara or staying close to the restaurants of Puerto del Carmen, you will find a pitch that fits your plans on Lanzarote.
Lanzarote has no toll roads, so you can travel freely across the island without extra costs. The main routes — the LZ-1 running north and the LZ-2 heading south from Arrecife — are well-maintained dual carriageways suitable for motorhomes of all sizes. Speed limits for larger vehicles are generally 90 km/h on main roads and 50 km/h in built-up areas. Some inland roads leading to volcanic sites are narrower and winding, so take your time with a campervan on routes around Timanfaya. Fuel stations are concentrated around Arrecife and Puerto del Carmen, so fill up before heading to the quieter north.
Ottimo camper, semplice da guidare. Esperienza positiva
Beyond happy with the whole experience. The motorhome was very comfy and had everything we needed for our little girls camping trip. More importantly the owners were extremely friendly and beyond helpful at all times with the vehicle, the routes, the airport pickups and dropp offs and many many more things! All and all very happy with this experience!
The experience was seemles from start to finish. Handover was very straightforward with all the major information required exchanged. Fabian the owner remained available during the trip for any issues that may arise. The vehicle was as advertised and in very good condition. Very nice camping caravan, equipped with everything that you could need. The return process was straightforward when returning vehicle. Also my car was kept securley stored at the location for arrival and drop off. Overall very good experience and i would highly recommend and use again in the future.
We really enjoyed our travels around Brittany in Clarisse's camper van. It was comfortable and easy to drive and had everything we needed for our holiday. Clarisse explained everything clearly to us before we set off.
A really positive experience from start to finish.
