Fuerteventura stretches across 1,660 square kilometres, making it the second-largest of the Canary Islands and home to some of the longest sandy beaches in the entire archipelago. The island's UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status, awarded in 2009, protects landscapes that range from the golden dunes of Corralejo Natural Park in the north to the windswept Cofete Beach on the remote Jandía Peninsula in the south — a drive of roughly 110 km. Between these two extremes, you can explore the ancient former capital of Betancuria, nestled in a volcanic valley, and the salt pans of Las Salinas del Carmen on the east coast. The terrain is remarkably open and flat compared with other Canary Islands, with the highest point at Pico de la Zarza reaching just 807 metres, which makes driving a motorhome here straightforward and relaxing. From Puerto del Rosario to the southern resort of Morro Jable, the main FV-2 road covers around 90 km of easy coastal driving. Fuerteventura's year-round mild climate and compact road network make it ideal for a campervan trip at any time. With Yescapa, you hire your campervan directly from local owners across Fuerteventura, giving you a wide choice of vehicles and the flexibility to collect from convenient island locations. Whether you want to chase surf breaks, wander through volcanic badlands, or simply park up beside a quiet beach, this island rewards those who take their time.
Fuerteventura enjoys warm weather throughout the year, so every season has something to offer. Spring is ideal for the International Kite Festival in Corralejo, usually held in November, while the lively Fiestas del Carmen in July celebrates the island's seafaring heritage in coastal towns. Summer and early autumn are the most popular months for campervan travel, so booking your Yescapa hire early ensures the best choice of vehicles. Winter on Fuerteventura is pleasantly warm, with daytime temperatures around 20 °C — perfect for quieter road trips and uncrowded campsites. Whenever you visit, the island's compact size means you can comfortably explore the whole coastline in a single trip.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
This 80 km route loops through Corralejo Natural Park and its sweeping dunes before heading to the fishing village of El Cotillo. Allow 3–5 days to enjoy the beaches, and a campervan is perfect for parking close to the shore.
A 60 km route through Fuerteventura's volcanic heartland, linking Betancuria and the Mirador de Morro Velosa. Over 3–6 days you can explore ancient churches and dramatic calderas — ideal for a compact campervan on winding mountain roads.
Follow 180 km of Fuerteventura's eastern shoreline from Puerto del Rosario south to Las Salinas del Carmen and Gran Tarajal. In 5–8 days you can visit salt museums, local markets, and quiet coves with well-placed campsites along the way.
This 150 km route traces Fuerteventura's wilder western coast from El Cotillo down to Pájara, passing Ajuy's sea caves and black-sand beaches. A motorhome gives you the comfort to spend 5–8 days exploring at a relaxed pace.
Cover 250 km around the entire island over 7–11 days, from Corralejo's dunes to the Jandía Peninsula. This route suits both campervans and motorhomes, with regular fuel stops and coastal campsites throughout Fuerteventura.
A leisurely 300 km journey over 10–15 days, covering every corner of Fuerteventura from Cofete Beach to the Lobos Island ferry at Corralejo. Take detours to Tindaya mountain and Antigua's windmill museum — a motorhome makes extended stays comfortable.

Fuerteventura offers a growing selection of campsites spread across the island, from coastal pitches near the northern dunes to quieter inland spots close to Betancuria's volcanic landscapes. Most sites provide electric hook-ups, fresh water, and waste disposal suitable for both campervans and motorhomes. Several campsites sit within easy reach of beaches, and a few offer shaded pitches — a welcome feature on this sun-drenched island. Booking ahead during summer months is a good idea, as Fuerteventura's popularity continues to grow.
Fuerteventura has no toll roads, so all driving is free. The main route, the FV-1 and FV-2, runs the length of the island from Corralejo in the north to Morro Jable in the south. Speed limits for motorhomes under 3,500 kg generally match those for cars: 120 km/h on dual carriageways and 90 km/h on open roads, though heavier vehicles are limited to 80 km/h outside built-up areas. Roads are well-maintained and mostly flat, with clear signage in Spanish. Some unpaved tracks lead to remote beaches — these are best suited to smaller campervans with higher clearance. Rest areas and fuel stations are spaced regularly along the main routes.
Fantastic rental, they were so helpful and got us all set up for our first ever campervan trip. The van was spotless and practically brand new. Everything was so easy to use and we just sent up the bed each day as we set off for each new place.
Easy to the find location of the vehicle it was a 20 min journey from the airport. We went over all the features quickly was easy to understand. I had a great few days using the camper and would definitely use again. Thanks
Very nice car rental. Very easy to deal with.
Wow - couldn’t recommend renting this little van from Carlos anymore! Incredible experience and Carlos is great. Thank you so much
La caravana está en excelentes condiciones y Juan Miguel lo hace todo muy fácil. La caravana tiene todo lo necesario y más y la comunicación fue perfecta. La recomiendo sin duda!
We absolutely loved our time with Javier’s Fiat campervan and would happily recommend it. From the outset, Javier was incredibly helpful and accommodating, answering all our questions and requests, arriving exactly when agreed and giving us an excellent, thorough handover. The van itself was brilliantly equipped, stylish, comfortable and surprisingly spacious, with loads of clever storage. It genuinely felt like a little home on wheels rather than simply a rental camper. Another big plus is just how user-friendly everything is. Even if you have little or no previous campervan experience, you could feel completely confident using it. Javier provided clear instructions for all the important systems — water, pumps, lighting, electrics and general operation — and everything was incredibly straightforward and simple to use. Nothing felt complicated or intimidating. We travelled both on-grid and completely off-grid, and it handled both perfectly. The solar and battery system worked brilliantly, the fridge stayed perfectly cold, and the enormous water capacity was a massive bonus — we showered normally throughout our trip and never managed to run out of water! And the shower itself deserves a special mention: such a clever use of space and genuinely one of our favourite features. On the road it was equally impressive. It drove really well, was surprisingly economical on fuel, and its size was absolutely perfect for travelling around Spain. We took it through little roads and villages without any drama and could generally park it in a normal car-sized space — a huge advantage compared with travelling in a large motorhome. The interior design is super chic and homely, the layout has been really well thought through, and there was more than enough space and storage for everything we needed. Overall, fantastic value for money, a great owner and a fabulous little campervan that gave us exactly the adventure we wanted. Whether you’re an experienced campervan traveller or trying one for the first time, it’s an incredibly easy and enjoyable van to travel in. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would absolutely rent it again. Highly recommended — thank you, Javier! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
