What you need to know about roads and motorways in Tees Valley

Tees Valley is well connected by the A19 and A66, two major routes linking the coast to the A1(M) motorway. There are no toll roads in the region, so travel is straightforward. Speed limits for motorhomes over 3.05 tonnes are 50 mph on single carriageways and 60 mph on dual carriageways. The A174 coastal road between Redcar and Saltburn-by-the-Sea is a scenic stretch worth taking slowly. Rest areas and laybys are plentiful along the A66, which also serves as the main gateway west towards the Lake District and Pennines.

We hired a motorhome from Cemil for a week to travel around Switzerland. We also visited France, Germany and Liechtenstein. Before the trip Cemil was helpful and responded to questions promptly. On the day of pick up he met us at the train station and the handover was smooth and quick. At the end if the trip it was also a very smooth transition and Cemil kindly drove us back to the airport. The van was great - very easy to drive and everything worked perfectly. All tolls and insurance were covered. We were very happy with the motorhome and would highly recommend renting from Cemil.
