Haute-Savoie is home to Mont Blanc, western Europe's highest peak at 4,808 metres, making it one of the most dramatic backdrops you could wake up to in a campervan. The department stretches from the shores of Lake Annecy — often called Europe's cleanest lake — to the bustling border town of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, a distance of roughly 65 km through winding alpine valleys. Head north and you reach Évian-les-Bains on the southern shore of Lake Geneva, about 95 km from Annecy, where the landscape softens into rolling vineyards and lakeside promenades. In between, the Aravis mountain range offers spectacular driving routes past the Col des Aravis and the charming village of La Clusaz, while the Plateau des Glières draws history enthusiasts to its Resistance memorial. Haute-Savoie rewards slow travel — pull over at a mountain farm for Reblochon cheese, park up beside a turquoise river, or spend a morning exploring the medieval old town of Annecy itself. The roads here suit both compact campervans on tighter cols and larger motorhomes on the main valley routes. With Yescapa, you hire directly from local owners spread across Haute-Savoie, so you can pick up a vehicle close to your starting point and set off without delay. Whether you are planning a week around the lakes or a fortnight crossing high passes, the peer-to-peer model means more choice and often better value than traditional agencies.
June to September is the prime window for exploring Haute-Savoie by campervan, when mountain passes such as the Col de la Colombière are fully open and campsites run at full capacity. The Fête du Lac in Annecy, held on the first Saturday of August, lights up the lake with one of Europe's largest firework displays — well worth timing your trip around. Autumn brings golden larch forests and quieter roads, ideal for a more relaxed motorhome tour. Winter travellers can still enjoy lower-altitude routes and thermal towns like Évian-les-Bains. Booking through Yescapa during shoulder months often means lower hire prices thanks to flexible peer-to-peer pricing set by individual owners.
To help you plan your trip, we have selected six unmissable road trips, suitable for all travelers.
This 350 km circuit links Annecy, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc and Évian-les-Bains over 5–8 days. You pass through the Arve valley and along Lake Geneva's southern shore, with well-equipped campervan stopovers in each town. Mountain roads are well maintained but take your time on the cols.
Cover 500 km in 7–11 days, weaving between Lake Annecy, Lake Geneva and the Aiguilles Rouges nature reserve near Chamonix. This route suits a motorhome and includes valley roads with plenty of scenic laybys. Stop at Thonon-les-Bains for its lakeside promenade and local Savoyard markets.
A 600 km adventure spanning 10–15 days across Haute-Savoie, from Annemasse near the Swiss border to the Beaufortain massif. Visit the Gorges du Fier, the Plateau des Glières and the ski village of Megève. Ideal for a campervan or motorhome — campsites are plentiful along the route.
A compact 150 km loop over 3–6 days circling Lake Annecy before climbing into the Aravis range via La Clusaz and Le Grand-Bornand. Perfect for a campervan on quieter alpine roads. Enjoy lakeside swimming spots and mountain-farm cheese tastings along the way.
Follow 120 km of Haute-Savoie's Lake Geneva coast over 3–5 days, from Évian-les-Bains to Yvoire, one of France's most beautiful villages. Flat lakeside roads suit any motorhome size. Campsites with lake views are dotted along the shore, and the Pré Curieux water gardens make a great stop.
This 280 km route over 5–8 days crosses the Giffre and Arve valleys, linking Samoëns, Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval and its famous cirque to Sallanches with views of Mont Blanc. Campervan-friendly aires are available in most villages. The road through the Fer-à-Cheval cirque is a highlight not to miss.

Haute-Savoie offers a wide spread of campsites suited to both campervans and motorhomes, from lakeside pitches with electric hook-ups to mountain sites with panoramic views. Many sites provide dedicated motorhome service points with fresh water and waste disposal, alongside heated sanitary blocks for cooler alpine evenings. Whether you prefer a spot beside Lake Annecy or a quieter base near the Mont Blanc massif, you will find well-maintained facilities across the department.
Haute-Savoie is served by the A40 and A41 motorways, both of which are toll roads operated by the ATMB and AREA networks. You pay at toll booths by card or cash, and a journey from Annecy to Chamonix via the A40 costs around €10–€15. Motorhomes over 3.5 tonnes are classed in a higher toll category, so keep your vehicle documents handy. Speed limits for vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are 110 km/h on motorways and 80 km/h on single carriageways. Mountain sections include tunnels and steep gradients — the Mont Blanc Tunnel has height and weight restrictions, so check dimensions before setting off. Rest areas with motorhome-friendly parking are well signposted along major routes.
I had the most wonderful trip in Eve’s van. It has everything you need, a great sized fridge, a large comfy bed, cooking equipment, electrics to be off grid, a great shower & toilet. The van ran very smoothly and was a perfect size even driving through the towns was no problem at all. They were very accommodating, helping me with local tip and recommendations. I’d 100% recommend this van to anyone thinking of taking a road trip, you won’t regret it :)
Inigio and his lovely girlfriend looked after Dolly for one week here in the Algarve area. They brought her back clean and in really good shape. Before and during the rental period we had a very good dialogue. I can highly reccomend them to lend your car. :-)
Our trip was fantastic, couldn't recommend travelling Sicily via Camper further. Angela and Luca made that super easy with clear comms and help pre booking, during holiday and after. pick up and drop off was a breeze. Clear instructions on how to use the van. All in all great trip.
Fabio made the whole process super easy and was very flexible with our plans. The van was perfect. Practically brand new and had all we needed.
Fantastic experience. Raul really went above and beyond to help us out and was always responsive with any queries we had. The van was in excellent condition, had everything we needed, and was ideal for our trip into the Pyrenees, plus heading south for the solar eclipse. Would highly recommend.
Very helpful owner and great vehicle! Had a great time in the Mundaka.
