Almada sits on the southern bank of the Tagus estuary, directly facing Lisbon, and is home to the 110-metre Cristo Rei statue that has watched over the river since 1959. Cross the iconic Ponte 25 de Abril — one of Europe's longest suspension bridges — and you arrive in a city where golden-sand beaches stretch for kilometres along the Costa da Caparica. Wander through the narrow lanes of the old town to find the Casa da Cerca — Centro de Arte Contemporânea, set in elegant gardens with panoramic views across to the capital. The Fragata D. Fernando II e Glória, a 19th-century frigate moored at Cacilhas, offers a fascinating glimpse into Portugal's maritime past. Families enjoy the Parque da Paz, a 60-hectare green space ideal for a morning stroll before heading to the coast. Setúbal lies just 50 km to the south-east, while the surf town of Ericeira is roughly 65 km to the north, making Almada a superb base for day trips in a campervan. The flat coastal roads and wide avenues around Almada suit motorhome travel well, and parking near the waterfront is straightforward outside peak hours. With Yescapa, you hire your campervan directly from local owners in the Almada area, which means flexible pick-up points and genuine tips on the best beach stops along the way.
Almada enjoys a mild Atlantic climate that makes it welcoming throughout the year. From June to September, the Costa da Caparica beaches are at their liveliest, and the Almada Festival de Teatro runs each July with open-air performances across the city. The Festas de Almada in late June bring street parades, live music and local food stalls to the old quarter. Spring and autumn are ideal for campervan touring, with quieter campsites and comfortable driving conditions along the coast. Booking through Yescapa gives you access to competitive peer-to-peer pricing, especially outside the summer months when owners often offer lower rates. Reserve a few weeks ahead for July and August to secure the best choice of vehicles near Almada.

Head 50 km south-east from Almada through the Arrábida Natural Park, where winding roads reveal forested hillsides and sheltered coves. Stop at Portinho da Arrábida for a swim, then continue to Setúbal for fresh grilled fish at the harbour. Campervan parking is available near the Setúbal marina.
A quick 30 km drive south from Almada brings you to the long sandy stretch of Costa da Caparica. Surf schools line the northern beaches, while quieter spots open up further south near Fonte da Telha. Several campsites sit right behind the dunes with full hook-ups for your motorhome.
Travel 130 km south from Almada into the Alentejo coast, passing rice paddies and cork oak forests. Drive 320 km north-east from Almada into the rolling plains of the Alentejo. Évora's Roman Temple and 16th-century cathedral are UNESCO-listed highlights. Continue to Monsaraz, a walled hilltop village above the Alqueva reservoir. Campervan pitches with lake views are available nearby.

The best experience ever!! Amazing van and amazing people who run it
Muchas gracias. Gary y Michelle
Lovely experience and fantastic van. Clean and worked very well. Leonardo and Eleanora were very friendly and helpful. One small feedback is the fridge did not work very well but otherwise its a great van.
Muy buena experiencia. Ana nos ha tratado muy bien.
Proprietários espetaculares e super atenciosos. Autocaravana estava impecável, super confortável, excelente condução. Painéis solares dão autonomia total. Tudo impecável.
We had an amazing trip! Rafaela and Carina were so kind, and we couldn’t recommend their van enough 🤩🙏🏼 The van had everything we needed for a proper “van life” experience, and you can also stay at campsites whenever you want!
