The Wellington region offers a good mix of coastal and semi-rural campsites suited to both campervans and motorhomes. Most sites provide powered and unpowered pitches, dump stations, hot showers, kitchen facilities and free Wi-Fi. While central Wellington has limited camping options, the surrounding areas of Upper Hutt, Paraparaumu and Wainuiomata each have well-equipped holiday parks within easy driving distance of the city centre, letting you explore the capital by day and return to a comfortable base each evening.
Wellington city centre uses pay-and-display parking, and many streets have time limits of one to two hours during business days. Larger vehicles should look for dedicated car parks with generous height clearances. Overnight parking on public streets is generally permitted but always check local signage for restrictions. For motorhomes and campervans, it is worth arriving early to secure a suitable bay, especially near the waterfront at weekends. Freedom camping within the city boundaries is not allowed, so plan to return to a holiday park for the night.

Lovely experience and fantastic van. Clean and worked very well. Leonardo and Eleanora were very friendly and helpful. One small feedback is the fridge did not work very well but otherwise its a great van.

We hired a motorhome from Cemil for a week to travel around Switzerland. We also visited France, Germany and Liechtenstein. Before the trip Cemil was helpful and responded to questions promptly. On the day of pick up he met us at the train station and the handover was smooth and quick. At the end if the trip it was also a very smooth transition and Cemil kindly drove us back to the airport. The van was great - very easy to drive and everything worked perfectly. All tolls and insurance were covered. We were very happy with the motorhome and would highly recommend renting from Cemil.
