Why hire a campervan or motorhome in Miami Airport

Miami Airport — a region worth exploring

Miami International Airport handles over 45 million passengers each year, making it the busiest gateway to the Caribbean and Latin America from the United States. From here, you can reach the white-sand shores of South Beach in just 15 km, while the entrance to Everglades National Park sits roughly 55 km to the south-west. The city itself stretches along Biscayne Bay, where landmarks such as the Pérez Art Museum Miami, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, and the historic Art Deco Historic District on Ocean Drive give you plenty of reasons to linger before hitting the road. Head south along the Overseas Highway and you will cross 42 bridges over 180 km to reach Key West, one of the most iconic driving routes in the world. Northward, the Atlantic coast leads to Fort Lauderdale (50 km) and Palm Beach (120 km), with waterfront campsites dotted along the way. The flat terrain and wide roads across southern Florida make the region particularly welcoming for larger vehicles, so whether you are in a compact campervan or a full-size motorhome, you can travel comfortably. With Yescapa, you hire directly from local owners based around Miami, giving you a wide choice of vehicles at peer-to-peer prices. A campervan collected near the airport puts you within easy reach of tropical coastline, subtropical wetlands, and lively urban neighbourhoods — all in a single trip.

Best time to visit

Miami enjoys a warm climate year-round, with the dry season from November to April drawing the most visitors. The South Beach Wine and Food Festival in February is a highlight for food lovers, while Art Basel Miami Beach each December transforms the city into a global arts destination. Summer brings quieter roads and greener rates on Yescapa, where peer-to-peer pricing already keeps costs below traditional hire companies. Book a campervan or motorhome for the winter months well in advance, as this is peak season across southern Florida. Whenever you choose to visit Miami, you will find open campsites and warm weather waiting.

What you need to know about roads and motorways in Miami Airport

Florida's highways are toll-free for most rural stretches, but several expressways around Miami — including the Florida Turnpike and Dolphin Expressway (SR 836) — charge tolls via SunPass or Toll-by-Plate. You can purchase a SunPass transponder at most petrol stations. Speed limits on interstate highways are typically 70 mph (113 km/h) for cars, though motorhomes over 26,000 lbs may be limited to 65 mph. The Overseas Highway (US-1) to the Keys is a single carriageway in many sections, so allow extra time. Rest areas with facilities suitable for larger vehicles are well signposted along I-95 and the Turnpike.

An absolute 10/10 experience from start to finish! The owners were exceptionally professional, super friendly, and made everything from initial contact to booking and collection completely seamless. Meeting their beloved camper van, 'Olaf,' was the highlight of our trip. As first-time drivers of anything larger than an SUV, we were initially nervous, but Olaf completely surprised us—being fully automatic and featuring Android Auto infotainment system, he was an absolute breeze to drive and got us to our destinations hassle-free. The camper is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a short getaway, and honestly, you could easily stay much longer. If we ever find ourselves back in France, we would love to take Olaf out for another spin!

We absolutely loved our time in the caddy! Everything was great, from the collection, the functionality and the communication. The van is small but mighty, the owners have thought of every little detail (sink, shower, storage, kitchen, and a good sized comfy bed). We highly recommend using Yescapa and hiring this van- perfect for your dolomites adventure!
