Brest sits at the western tip of Brittany, where the Penfeld river meets one of the world's largest natural harbours — the Rade de Brest, stretching over 180 square kilometres. The city's maritime heritage runs deep, and you can trace it at Océanopolis, a major ocean discovery park divided into tropical, polar and temperate pavilions. Stroll along the Cours Dajot promenade for sweeping views across the harbour, then head to the Château de Brest, a medieval fortress that has guarded the port since Roman times and now houses the National Naval Museum. The Jardin du Conservatoire Botanique National de Brest protects over 1,800 endangered plant species from around the globe, making it a fascinating stop between coastal drives. For contemporary culture, Les Ateliers des Capucins — a former naval workshop turned creative quarter — offers exhibitions, shops and a panoramic terrace. Quimper, the historic capital of Cornouaille, lies just 72 km to the south-east, while the dramatic cliffs of the Presqu'île de Crozon are only 65 km south, both easily reached by well-maintained roads suited to larger vehicles. The surrounding coastline rewards slow travel, with quiet lanes winding past lighthouses and sandy coves. With Yescapa, you hire a campervan or motorhome directly from local owners in and around Brest, giving you the flexibility to set off at your own pace and discover Finistère's rugged Atlantic coast on your own terms.
Brest enjoys a mild oceanic climate, making it a comfortable destination from late spring through to early autumn. June to September brings the longest days and warmest temperatures — ideal for coastal campervan touring. The city comes alive during Les Fêtes Maritimes Internationales de Brest, a spectacular tall-ships festival held every four years (next in 2028), and the Brest Music Festival each August fills the city with live performances. Booking your motorhome through Yescapa ahead of summer gives you access to competitive peer-to-peer rates from local owners, often well below traditional hire prices. Autumn is equally rewarding, with quieter roads and golden light along the Finistère coastline.

The city's dedicated motorhome aire near the Moulin Blanc marina is a popular choice, with services and easy access to the coast. My partner and I have been on van trips before, but only borrowing friend's vans in the UK. This was our first time renting a van abroad, first time using Yescapa and first time exploring the Picos de Europa. Overall it was a super smooth experience and enabled us to have one of the best holidays ever - so we would fully recommend! Firstly, the booking experience. We were visiting during the eclipse and so we were wary that everything was getting booked up. We stumbled upon Yescapa and this van, then the booking experience was pretty simple so it kind of felt too good to be true. Picking up the van was a doddle, with all the instructions sent clearly over WhatsApp. This meant we felt comfortable hitting the ground running. Secondly, the van was absolutely perfect for our holiday. The shower out the back was perfect for cooling down and cleaning off after runs. The camp stove worked great for making porridge in the morning, and we were grateful for the included chairs - especially when it came to watching the eclipse. We found that the fridge tended to heat the cabin when it was running which meant it worked quite well for helping control the temperature i.e. we'd leave the fridge running if there was a cold night due. Finally, thank you to Safira the host for letting us use the van for our wonderful trip. She was very quick to respond to any questions, and super lovely in helping us out during pick-up and drop-off.
We had a lovely few days in France in the motorhome. We picked up about 30 minutes from Calais which was very convenient for the ferry. The van had everything we needed and we had a great time visiting the Normandy beaches and D day sites.
We had the best experience with this campervan and were so sad when it was time to hand it back! We had it for 3 nights during peak summer at a really reasonable price, and it was absolutely perfect for our little adventure. The host was fantastic and always replied incredibly quickly whenever we had a question. The van itself had everything we could possibly need and more. You can really tell that the owner has thought about all the little details — from salt and pepper, coffee and tea, to plenty of kitchenware and even a coffee machine! The bed was super comfortable and really easy to assemble, and the fan worked brilliantly, which was definitely appreciated during the summer heat. We honestly loved every minute of van life and were genuinely sad to leave. Thank you for helping make our trip so special — we would definitely recommend this campervan to anyone looking for an amazing adventure!
Fantastic rental, they were so helpful and got us all set up for our first ever campervan trip. The van was spotless and practically brand new. Everything was so easy to use and we just sent up the bed each day as we set off for each new place.
Easy to the find location of the vehicle it was a 20 min journey from the airport. We went over all the features quickly was easy to understand. I had a great few days using the camper and would definitely use again. Thanks
Very nice car rental. Very easy to deal with.
