Why hire a campervan or motorhome in Beauvais Airport

Beauvais Airport — a region worth exploring

Beauvais-Tillé Airport sits just 85 kilometres north of Paris, making it a practical gateway to the rolling landscapes of Picardy and the northern French countryside. The Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Beauvais holds the record for the tallest Gothic choir ever completed, reaching 48.5 metres — a remarkable sight before you even hit the road. From the airport, you can head north-west to the Baie de Somme, roughly 130 kilometres away, where Europe's largest colony of harbour seals basks along the estuary. Travel 110 kilometres east and you reach Laon, a medieval hilltop city crowned by a 12th-century cathedral visible for miles across the plains. Closer to Beauvais, the Parc Astérix theme park and the Château de Chantilly with its world-class art collection are both easy day trips. The region's quiet departmental roads wind through the Oise and Somme valleys, well suited to campervans and larger motorhomes alike, with gentle gradients and plenty of aires along the way. Hiring a campervan through Yescapa connects you directly with local owners based around Beauvais and the wider Hauts-de-France area, so you can collect your vehicle close to the airport and set off without delay. Whether you are drawn to Gothic architecture, coastal nature reserves, or the remembrance trails of the Somme, this corner of northern France rewards slow, unhurried exploration on four wheels.

Best time to visit

May to October is ideal for a campervan trip from Beauvais. The Fête Médiévale de Provins in June brings jousting and costumed parades to a UNESCO-listed town just south of the region, while the Fête de la Baie de Somme in September celebrates local wildlife and gastronomy along the estuary. Summer months offer the longest daylight hours for driving and coastal walks, and most campsites across Picardy open their full facilities from April through to late September. Booking through Yescapa outside the July–August peak can mean more competitive hire rates from private owners, and you will find quieter pitches at popular spots like Le Crotoy and Saint-Valery-sur-Somme.

What you need to know about roads and motorways in Beauvais Airport

France's autoroute network near Beauvais includes the A16 heading north towards Amiens and the Côte d'Opale, and the A1 running south to Paris. Most autoroutes are toll roads — you pay at péage booths by card or cash, and vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are charged at a higher rate. Speed limits for motorhomes under 3.5 tonnes match standard cars at 130 km/h on autoroutes, but heavier vehicles must keep to 110 km/h. Rest areas with motorhome-friendly parking appear regularly along major routes. Many travellers prefer the free national and departmental roads, which are well maintained and offer a more scenic pace through the Oise and Somme countryside.

What our users say about our campervans and motorhomes in Beauvais Airport

5 / 5

Patricia and Jorge were great, waiting at the airport when we arived and waiting 30mins at the return when we took a wrong turn. Helpful and friendly. Signed off the return easily and quickly. The van has character and plenty of Km but it was in perfect running order. I'd have no problem hiring from them again.

Frederick was lovely and the van was super. A lot of storage for a van plus a screen that separates the toilet from the shower which is much less of a mess. Big fridge and good cooking area and sink. The water pressure is very good so when you shower you get a really good pressure, having said that prepare to top up your water tank frequently. Lovely trip and a really well equipped and user friendly van layout would rent again!
