From sleek A-class models to versatile coachbuilts and low-profiles, there’s a motorhome for every adventure—whether you need a compact getaway for two or a spacious multi-berth for the whole family.
The campervan is the ultimate all-rounder. Effortlessly practical and built for freedom, it’s just as at home navigating tight city streets as it is exploring the heart of the countryside.
Zurich's Grossmünster church, with its distinctive twin towers, has anchored the city's skyline since the 12th century and remains a landmark you can spot from almost anywhere along the Limmat river. Beyond its medieval Old Town, Zurich offers world-class culture at the Kunsthaus Zürich, home to one of Switzerland's most important art collections, and the Swiss National Museum, which traces the country's history from prehistory to the present. Stroll along Bahnhofstrasse for upscale shopping, then unwind at the Zürichhorn lakeside park on the eastern shore of Lake Zurich. Nature is never far away — Uetliberg, the city's own mountain, rewards you with panoramic views across the Alps and the lake after a short train ride. Bern lies roughly 125 km to the south-west, while Lucerne is just 52 km south, making Zurich an ideal base for wider Swiss exploration by road. The well-maintained motorway network and clearly signposted routes around the lake make driving a motorhome straightforward, though city-centre streets can be narrow, so plan your parking in advance. With Yescapa, you hire a campervan directly from local owners who know the best routes and overnight spots around Zurich. This peer-to-peer approach often means more flexible pick-up points across the city and personalised tips you won't find in any guidebook — a great way to start your campervan adventure in Switzerland.
Zurich comes alive between May and September, when long daylight hours let you make the most of lakeside walks and Alpine drives. The Zürich Festival in June and July fills the city with opera, theatre and concerts, while the Street Parade in August draws music lovers from across Europe. Spring and autumn bring quieter campsites and lower hire rates, ideal if you prefer a more relaxed pace. With Yescapa, peer-to-peer pricing means you can often find a campervan at competitive rates even during busier months. Book a few weeks ahead for summer to secure the vehicle that suits you best.
Zurich is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Head 52 km south from Zurich through rolling green hills to Lucerne. Cross the famous Chapel Bridge, then visit the Swiss Museum of Transport on the lakeshore. Campervan parking is available near the lake, and you can easily spend 1–4 days exploring the Rigi or Pilatus mountains nearby.
Drive 85 km north-east from Zurich to reach Europe's largest waterfall at Schaffhausen. Stop in Winterthur along the way to explore the Oskar Reinhart Collection. Rhine Falls has dedicated motorhome parking, and 1–3 days is plenty to enjoy the falls and the medieval old town.
This 130 km route east from Zurich takes you into the Appenzell region, known for its painted houses and local cheese dairies. Continue to Rorschach on Lake Constance for waterfront walks. Allow 3–6 days and book campsites early in summer, as lakeside pitches are popular.
Travel 175 km south-east from Zurich into Graubünden, stopping at Chur, Switzerland's oldest city, before winding through the Flüela Pass towards Davos. Mountain roads are well maintained but take your time in a campervan. Spend 3–6 days soaking in hot springs at Vals and hiking Alpine trails.
Cover 290 km south-west from Zurich, pausing in Interlaken for views of the Eiger and Jungfrau. Continue past Lake Thun and through Lausanne before reaching Geneva. Motorhome service areas dot the route, and 5–8 days lets you linger in the vineyard-lined Lavaux terraces along the way.
Head 310 km south from Zurich through the Gotthard Pass into Italian-speaking Ticino. Explore Bellinzona's three UNESCO-listed castles, then relax by Lake Maggiore in Locarno. Campervan-friendly aires are plentiful in Ticino, and 5–8 days gives you time to savour the Mediterranean atmosphere.

Zurich and its surrounding countryside offer a good selection of campsites suited to both campervans and motorhomes. Most sites provide electric hook-ups, fresh water, waste disposal and modern shower blocks. Within the city you will find well-equipped urban sites close to public transport, while options around nearby lakes and forests give you a quieter, more rural setting — all within easy driving distance of Zurich's centre.
Parking a larger vehicle in Zurich requires a bit of planning. Overnight stays in motorhomes or campervans are not permitted on public streets within the city. Height barriers on many multi-storey car parks rule them out for taller vehicles, so look for open-air P+R sites on the outskirts. These offer affordable day rates and direct tram links into the centre, letting you explore without the hassle of navigating narrow old-town lanes.
We went for a 7 days trip with 2 of my friends. It was an amazing time. Camper was really great - in a good condition, clean, comfortable. We did 1000km without any problems. I can recommend this car and Alvaro as a very nice owner.
1st time we have hired a Motorhome, Sandrine was a joy to hire from, answered all of our questions as newbies. She couldn't make hiring their MH any easier, Their Motor home was in perfect condition we had the unlimited Km's option and the vehicle never missed a beat over the long distances we drove, Highly recommend Hiring from Sandrine 5 Star !!
