Palma de Mallorca's Gothic cathedral, La Seu, towers 44 metres above the harbour and holds one of the world's largest rose windows, measuring nearly 14 metres across. The city blends centuries of history with a relaxed Mediterranean pace, making it an ideal base for exploring the island by road. Wander through the winding lanes of the Old Town to discover the Palau de l'Almudaina, a royal palace dating back to Moorish rule, or browse contemporary art at Es Baluard Museu d'Art Modern, set within the city's Renaissance-era walls. Families and food lovers alike enjoy the bustling Mercat de l'Olivar, where local vendors sell fresh seafood, cured meats and Mallorcan pastries. Beyond the city centre, the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range begins just 15 km to the north, offering dramatic coastal roads and hairpin bends that reward careful drivers with extraordinary views. Heading east, the caves of Drach near Manacor lie roughly 65 km away, an easy day trip along well-maintained roads. Palma's flat coastal surroundings and clearly signposted ring road make it straightforward to navigate in a larger vehicle, while quieter inland routes suit a compact campervan perfectly. With Yescapa, you hire your motorhome or campervan directly from local owners in Palma de Mallorca, which means personal tips on the best routes, flexible pick-up points across the city and peer-to-peer pricing that keeps your holiday budget in check.
Palma de Mallorca welcomes visitors comfortably from April through October. The Festes de Sant Sebastià in January fill the city with open-air concerts and bonfires, while the Nit de l'Art each September transforms galleries and streets into a free cultural festival. Summer is the busiest period, so booking your campervan on Yescapa well ahead secures the best choice of vehicles and peer-to-peer rates. Spring and early autumn bring warm, settled weather that suits long drives through the Serra de Tramuntana without the peak-season traffic. Campsites around Palma de Mallorca tend to have more availability outside July and August, giving you greater flexibility on your route.
Palma de Mallorca is the perfect base for exploring the region by motorhome or campervan. Here are our 6 must-see getaways
Head 28 km north-west from Palma de Mallorca into the Serra de Tramuntana to reach Valldemossa. Visit the Royal Charterhouse where Chopin once stayed, then stroll the cobbled village streets. Campervan parking is available on the edge of town — arrive early in summer to secure a spot.
Drive 55 km east from Palma de Mallorca to Manacor, the island's second city. Explore the Coves del Drach with their underground lake, then browse the local pearl workshops. The route follows wide, well-surfaced roads suitable for a motorhome, with free parking near the caves.
Cover 140 km north-east from Palma de Mallorca to the dramatic Cap de Formentor lighthouse. Stop at Alcúdia's walled Old Town and the Platja de Formentor beach along the way. Note that the final stretch has narrow bends, so a compact campervan is the most comfortable choice here.
Travel 110 km north from Palma de Mallorca through mountain tunnels and citrus groves to reach Sóller. Ride the vintage wooden tram down to Port de Sóller and visit the Jardí Botànic de Sóller. Several campsites nearby offer full hook-ups and easy access to coastal walking trails.
Follow the coast 175 km south-east from Palma de Mallorca to the pine-fringed coves of Cala d'Or. Break the journey at the Santuari de Sant Salvador near Felanitx for panoramic views. Campervan pitches at nearby sites fill up in peak season, so reserve ahead for the best spots.
Loop 260 km around the entire island from Palma de Mallorca, taking in Pollença, Artà and Santanyí. Allow time for the Sa Calobra road, one of Mallorca's most celebrated driving routes. A motorhome gives you the freedom to stop overnight at different campsites and set your own pace.

Palma de Mallorca has several large car parks that can accommodate campervans and motorhomes, though height barriers apply at some underground facilities — always check clearance before entering. Overnight parking in a campervan on public streets is generally not permitted within the city centre. Designated parking areas on the outskirts offer a practical alternative, and many are connected to the centre by bus or a short cycle ride.
The hire experience was excellent throughout. The owners were very friendly, accommodating and easy to deal with. We had such a good trip. The van is really well looked after and a pleasure to drive. The owners helped with anything we were unsure of and even gave us tips on where to eat and park up. We would definitely hire through these owners again.
We hired Trina for 5 nights earlier this July. My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time on the island. Jandro was incredibly helpful, always on hand before and during the trip to answer any questions which really helped us navigate the island and enjoy our trip. The vehicle was fantastic, an incredible experience to drive. All the amenities were brilliant as well. I would highly recommend using Jandro and one of his vans for a fantastic Mallorca experience!
Communication with the owner was great, van was immaculate, heaps of choice, love the peer to peer concept. Easy to add an extra driver and ID checks were very thorough but straightforward. Changing dates wasn't so easy, the owner was great, but the process at the back end took some manual effort. Teething problems, not a big deal. Main area that needs improving (for me anyway) is the deposit. There was a single line in a table stating Deposit: cash or transfer, that I hadn't seen. The owner asked for the cash or a transfer when we were at the car, which he explained was normal process, but Yescapa could have explained beforehand. I transferred €2000 directly to the owner, which didn't feel comfortable. I had expected this would all be done via Yescapa. I ended up losing €45 in exchange rate variations + fees as well, the owner's bank had challenges which meant it to 5 days to get a lot of cash back. It was lucky we had that amount at hand. I would use Yescapa again. I hope they can tidy up and improve the processes though.
Very easy and open person… all went well , on time and with all the agremants.
Incredible time spent across the south of France with an incredible van! From beach, lakes, mountains and fields, it got me places I didn’t even pre conceive. Can’t speak more highly of my over all experience from van collection at train station to drop off. Drives smoother than my Suzuki jimny and can confirm very 6ft 4 friendly.
